To be completely honest, I get schooled regularly! Spomey rides an m7 or 900 cat, I think his stuff is too modern to be called "old iron"...My ultra HAS to be getting close to vintage by now?

Hey now, I loved my old Ultra..just wasn't enough left of it to justify rebuilding it again! That poor sled got rode hard and put away wet. It was a great sled, just too many miles on the poor thing.

You are not on an Iq so I think that counts as old iron.

don't let him fool you..I see him(the ultrarider) eying the IQraw's every chance he gets..I have even seen him have to wipe a little drool off his lip.......and I know that when ever no one is looking..he will sneek off on one(have no clue what he is doing back in the trees ..but there is alot of moaning and groaning):D

LOL! Great story!

Few yrs ago we were coming out by Jefferson/Hellroaring in ID and stopped to watch a group of new Doo's burning nitrous by the lb trying to climb a steep hill. Sat there for a few minutes and 2 oldtimers pulled up to us on Polaris wedges. Chatted for a few minutes and then they pulled the rope and started carving deftly up that hill. The Doo clan hadn't made it 1/2 way. These 2 boys pulled over the top, came down, went up again, and disappeared. We smiled, shook our heads and headed out past the group of disgruntled attempters. Cheers to those 2 boyz:beer;:beer;

Much like riding with the Timbersled boys:face-icon-small-coo

thanks guys for all the compliments and reps!!!!

I have to say it is a great thing to have a riding partner such as Pernikm for such a long time. I hope everyone who sleds has an old reliable friend they can count on and watch-out for. We have had our share of good times, and damn few bad ones (i guess its and attitude thing). some of the best most memorable times most people wouldn't understand.

This story will be recounted many times and probably grow, as all good stories should!

I'm sure this goes for Pernikm also, if anyone needs a riding partner in Norther utah we are riding most weekends. Send a PM and maybe we can find some powder to pack down.

Excellent Post! Great story and such poetic justice. :beer;
I love it when Jackasses like that have to eat a little humble pie and hate every swallow.
I myself am a middle of the road rider and have no problem admitting it. Running off at the mouth can make you look so stupid, so fast but amazing how some idiots will never figure that out.
My version of showing off is starting my sled with one hand when I ride with the wife....she has to use two. (Wemp) :D

Great story

I learned to ride here in Idaho around Rexburg and Island Park. It sounds like I would really enjoy riding with you guys and I'll give you my usual reply "I'll try to keep up" I can't tell you how many guys I have shut up with that line. They will start to run off at the mouth about how bad A they are and I throw that in there. "OK, well I'll try to keep up" and leave it at that.

Haha thats the best story i've read in a while.. you two are great peeps. Stories like that make me realize exactly why we do this stuff!

I have gotten my fair share of humble pie in the last few years riding with some of you... my apologies! It sure was a blast! :D

:) Quote: when there was a choice between the "C" line and the "A" line, we took the "A+" line and watched the show.

That sounds like a typical ride with M7Rocks in the lead. :)

Am I missing something? wasn't there a big gap in between the place where you found them, and their response to the quesiton; Can you ride? "The spit in the snow would have done it for me too".

No Gap, same place. To be honest, we summed up their skills pretty quickly. And we were still happy to to show them around. If we can promote the sport, we are all for it. And to be honest one of the guys was really nice and was all about trying new things. If Mr. Puffy would have admitted he was a nubie, we would have showed them to a better place to help develop skills. Unfortunately for him, Spomey is a complete goof off...and sometimes he choses to goof off in places that are a bit tougher than average. They guy just got caught in the cross fire...Sometimes I get caught in Spomey's cross fire too!:o:o

now i don't think i'm a great rider or even a good rider, but this summer i was talking crap with my uncle just for fun, but now it's escalated into a bet and i'm afraid i'm may just get destroyed when i go riding with him in about a month.

This is by far the best reading on this forum in years. Great job. No matter how much experience, you'll never stop learning.

I wouldn't worry about it. Once every million years or so, I out climb Spomey and I talk smack. I have to get the jabs in when I can because it is so rare. When I get schooled it rolls right off me. Heck, sometimes it is just cool to see a master at their craft!

I am young, but i will remember what i just read for years to come. I joke sometimes but never do i brag about riding, weather with my buddies or my family. Im in this sport because it is great and straight forward. I raced motocross and not one family at the races was as straight forward and nice as anyone of you. Whether its helping or teaching a lesson. Be straight forward but dont cross the line.

the most elloquently placed verbage i have ever read on this site. i think you missed your calling, you should offer your talent up to some major publications for a point of view perspective. story funny as hell, and well written. thanks.

You said it!

I would PAY to read more!!! I seriously don't think I've EVER laughed THAT hard!

... and the other's look like two piss holes in the snow....
Karl

I have to ask this question from your original post, where did you ever hear the saying about someones eyes looking like two piss holes in the snow? Back in the day when I was in high school after coming home from a hard night of drinking, my old man would use that line on me in the morning. I always thought that it was an old mid-west saying used by farm boys because I never heard anyone use it besides him. I still use that saying with my friends that had a little to much the night before when I pick them up for riding, not even sure if I'm using it in the right context but it always makes them laugh. Good post, to be honest I was like those douche's in my younger years untill my older brothers and cousins would put me in my place. Although it made me a better rider it also taught me to be humble, you never know what kind of skills a new rider to the group is going to bring. Peace fellas
