lmao.....we call this trial by fire!!! I learned to snowmobile by trial by fire and got burnt many times!!

good teacher though!!!

LMFAO!! I love taking the guy that thinks he is the baddest mother F*#@er on the mountain through the thickest trees I can find. It only takes a few minutes and he's just as normal as the rest of us. I would rather learn the easy way than run my PIE HOLE and get schooled all day!! GREEN FOR BOTH OF YOU!!!

I love riding with the Spoomy and Pernikm types, those are the throw away the GPS days cause it ain't gonna help you figure out where the heck you are :eek:

couple guys I ride with are like that, only time we see the groomed trail is crisscrossing it now and then..the rest is just one extended long "shortcut"

and ya I've dragged into the truck a few times barely able to hang on to the bars with a grin ear to ear

Spomey, Pernikm.... I must say thanks to you guys. Thanks for showing people like that what riding is really all about. You guys are the kinds of people that make this sport great.

I ocassionally ride with some guys that are way over my head in skill. I try to follow, sometimes pick a easier line, and always try to be humble about it. Rock, Kim, Duner, Phatty, Kev and all are really good about letting me tag along.

A couple of years ago when I was just getting used to my '04 REV and hadn't yet changed the skis from stock I hooked up with some guys at Nobletts that were on older Cat Powder Specials. I had more power, more track, and a newer machine...

They took off thru the trees at full speed.. up hills where the trees were so close together my skis hit on both sides going between them.. and when I slowed to make sure I didn't hook a tree I got stuck..

Never saw a road until I bailed on them near Tower Mtn 'cause I'd run out of time and was due home for a party.

Got SCHOOLED all dang day.. Had a blast.. Could hardly more the next day.. AM SO GLAD I DIDN"T BRAG ABOUT BEING A GREAT RIDER!!

Never have run into that group of brothers again.. would ride with them if they'd let me.. still have huge respect for guys on old sleds that pound out the miles winter after winter!

Let me tell you pernikm lies, what a crock of bull.

He is a fantastic rider and while I lead most of the time he takes the harder line behind me as I take the most natural line looking for the next place to go or a path through the trees. He has to make harder turns and tighter lines to enjoy the untracked stuff. I really need to start leaving more perfect lines.

As for myself, I really enjoy riding, that's all I really care about.

And the part about "schooling the armatures" well that was a bit of creative license, I remember pernikm asking are you doing this on purpose? My answer was "hell yes! Mr. 220 Hp kind of got under my skin"

As for one of them being cocky yes that was true. The other guy was actually a really nice.

I really do ride with everyone, look at my posts about some rides I go on. But damn you know the guy, kind of too puffy chested and arrogant. and when he bragged about his 220 hp supercharged go anywhere ride with anybody sled.....well I wasn’t really worried about him following my stock M7 with my 250 lb fat a$$ onboard.

I took off riding the way I like to ride. The snow was PERFECT about 12-15 inches of powder on top of really good base. Totally fun, nearly bulletproof snow. I was in my glory and having one of the best rides of my life. These poor guys just kindof got caught up in it......I did notice another thing and that was the leave your buddy to get unstuck by himself attitude, or let Pernikm and myself go help while I sit. That kindof chapped me a bit also.

As for dropping into the last canyon well I wasn’t ready for the day to end, you know the pristine untracked snow in front of you and gas still in the tank. I knew they were hurting but I went in for me and pernikm.

Needless to say when we hit the road we have several "short cuts" that are just more fun for us than be-bopping down the road. They wanted no part of anything other than fresh groomed trail.....

I really do hope they enjoyed the ride. Rehashing the events of the day with Pernikm makes it extra special.:beer;:):beer;

Spomey usually leads...he doesn't see me ricochetting through the trees and I keep my oxygen bottle well hidden...

Better to keep your mouth shut and be thought to be an idiot, than open your mouth and prove it.

I tell my son, don't say what you can do, just show them. Not bragging equals nothing to prove.

Thank you, we appreciate all the compliments. We just like to ride. Sometimes we decide to find the "cool" way in and end up redefining what size of tree constitutes traction...Often we get side tracked from our planned route and never get to our destination because we goof off too much. We enjoy watching people stretch their skills and are always on hand when things don't go as planned.

the visual was pretty dang good in this story ......reminds of Jed in slednecks ....#1 I think ....old 1920 something sled pullin 200 foot cliff drops ...

just cuz you got the cake doesn't mean the talent comes with it ....nice one

We call this getting your "Tree Endorsement". Kind of like different endorsements for a CDL license.

Good Job Guys!!!!

I learned early in life, no matter how good you are or think you are there is always someone better. Sounds like it took these 2 a little longer in life to learn this lesson.:beer;

good on you both. green for both of you-would like to ride with you guys if i ever get down to utah. I like riding with all different types of people-----you learn alot real fast!!!

96 ultra schooling Turbo dude. I like it. What does Spomey ride? Maybe we ought to have an old Iron ride. If a 2000 counts as old iron. :D

Hey now, I loved my old Ultra..just wasn't enough left of it to justify rebuilding it again! That poor sled got rode hard and put away wet. It was a great sled, just too many miles on the poor thing.
