the topic was strength relative to body weight. bench not so much, leg press and pullups very much so....

as for bench not being functional? What muscles do you use when you punch someone? :D

I don't punch, I show a trick the back of my hand;) Course I like to use my shoulder and core if I were to punch, I thinks and maybe a tricep
 
i did 315 12 times last week. and i weigh 230lbs. dont know if that is good. it is just what i do. that is my final set on the bench. i do as many as i can and that is what i did.
 
I was doing 75 LB dumbells untell my shoulder gave out one day in P.E. and i droped it on my face. I thought i broke my jaw!:face-icon-small-fro

Dude you just sent a chill down my spine.... Ive always worried that that could happen. I wont say my heaviest db weight but when you get heavy that becomes a real possibility....****in ouch
 
Lifting heavy dumbells is almost an art ....

I kind of laugh when people who don't lift think all people who do lift are doing is grunting a lot and doing steroids.

I say "Ok, you go do a monkey-humping-a-barbell lift with 150+ pounds over your head and you see how far you get with that without paying any attention whatsoever to what you're doing ..."

You have to be pretty careful with that ... takes some practice, heh =)
 
Dumbell presses will get you, I played College ball and we would lift to Failure and a couple of those failures were a hex dumbell to the cranium, makes you see dots for a while.
 
This is the dumbest thread ever. I can bench 27 pounds. I can also shape horseshoes on my dong, what do you think about that muscleheads?
 
Last period of time that I spent in the gym (last summer): bench: 3x5x270
squat: 3x8x315
deads: 5x5x315
rack pulls:3x8x405
as for dumbells, I got 8 reps of 95's many moons ago.
Man I need to get back into it. Just feel better doing it.
