How 'bout them snowies?

Well, we made it but day 1 was tough. Incredible winds and no visibility in many locations. Found a few meadows that had waist deep pow but for non locals there was no way to do any exploring with the limited visibility. Winds sposed to "die down" to 25 mph tmorw which will be a lot better but still rough. But since we didn't come all this way to not ride, we'll see ya Sat.

"SNOW"ys

Too bad about the wind - hope you all get a great day tomorrow. Keep the picts coming. We are headed out a week from Tuesday from Iowa and those powder picts are killing me. Have a great weekend ride.

Just got in the house from the snowies. They sure hurt my vacation. Stayed at snowy mtn lodge all week but came home day early. Tuesday was great, wed 4 hours good and the last two days crap. The group was ready to go home. hope the wind dies down for everbody else. And I was really surprised the rev baron blue 440 i got did awesome out there. Many people told me the 440 would suck. Had power and climbed everything I wanted to.

When it's windy go to Albany! Wasn't bad at all there today, heres some pics from cinnabr park and off of T trail. Going again tomorrow, powder in the trees was epic

Man the wind the last couple weeks has been brutal.
Couldn't even see the mountain from laramie on saturday.

Wind? What wind?

Wasn't that wind fun on saturday? Left Laramie and rode out of greenrock sat morning. Only got two miles up the trail and my brother's 800 broke the primary spring. Drove back to Laramie, picked up a spare sled, drove back up to the parking lot in the wind. Gas mileage was excellent, ha ha ha. Back to riding by noon, headed to the backside and it wasn't too bad. By the evening, it turned out pretty nice. Sunday was much nicer until we had to tow my sled out of the French creek area. Took awhile to get up to the trail.

All in all, still better than doing anything else.

Heading out friday for the snowies sledding saturday - monday... just wondering how the snow is.. I know it has been extremely good the past couple weeks but i didnt know if it has set up and gotten hard... I know the wind has been pretty bad too, but i cant wait!! :D :) :D

won't be any fresh pow left, we'll have it all tracked up by saturday.:D

just kidding. we probably won't, since we have to lead a 100% newbie around on a rented touring sled:eek:

What happened to your sled that you had to tow it?

No idea, sled ran great all weekend. I was climbing up through some trees, came back down and just shut it off to take a break. After sitting for about 20 min, we decided to move further down the creek, and she wouldn't start. No fire at all, zero spark. Messed with everything we could think of for about an hour. Hopefully nothing big, just dumped it off at the dealer on the way through. It better be done by next weekend.

We just got back on Monday night. That wind thursday and friday was brutal. We rode until about dark on Friday and the ride back from the widowmaker friday night was a little scary. First time out there and it was a blast. The zero visibility at times was a little tough on a newbie like me, but sunday. Wow what a day. Crystal clear sky and mild temps, it was great. I can tell you that I was a little nervous with the wind the first two days that we wouldn't have that much fun, but it turned out to be a great time with a great bunch of guys.

Cory, if you are reading this, thanks for a great weekend and I think we will take you up on your offer and get a hold of you next time we come out.

more pics from last weekend. Sunday was awesome!! The guy in the third pic from last Derek Harris, send all questions on whats going on in this pic to him, You may also ask rodgerdodger what it is he's looking at!!!! These were all fellow snowesters by rob roy, the climbing was on the rob roy dam and shawn had tackeled me earlier in the day so I had just grabbed his arm and turned him around on the hill.

These pics were taken Saturday and Sunday, warm weather. got 5-6 inches Monday morning in Albany. Should be good after the storms this week!!!

Not much pow? No, there's plenty, we just got back today and I'd guess there was 10-12 inches of fresh in the trees/trails around greenrock/mountain meadows and north. We were breaking trail tues am and it was drifted in and plenty deep!! Plenty of stucks.
The only problem was the wind, just wicked at times, over libby it was about 8 ft visability in some places. It could have been an epic day if the wind would have died down and the sun come out.
