Have you Heard..... 2009 Yamaha's

Why would you want a 4 cyl? Lighter is better and the nytro is just that. Remember the vmax 4? soon to be obsolete...the apex! Not everyone can afford a turbo.

i hear a new 4cylinder probably:beer;:beer; apex motor in nytro chassi ah let the rumers begin:D:beer;:beer;

When you add in the weight diference from a 153'' to a 162'' track, 3 gallons of fuel lost by the nytro, then add the weight of the 4th cylinder, just how much do you think Yamha saved the nyto vs the Apex. About 15-20 pounds thats how much.

For guys adding boost....The 153'' was the wrong direction for big hp, the 7 gallon tank was the wrong direction for adding big hp, and although 3 cylinders is working, its still not the hp #'s of 4. Handling and quicker turbo responce are biggest pro's.

Point...Apex guys that went with the front mount, and lost 2 gallons of fuel are ticked, they can't ride long enough. Prolly works for guys who can start at the door, but if you have a 10 mile trip oneway to the good stuff, you're kinda screwed a bit on the day for the fun factor.

No doubt Yamaha will change from the Apex, but personally I don't see any way they can get the weigth down to where its a purchase factor. A chasis and handling factor could persuade some, as it did with the nytro, but it will weigh more than the nytro, so they better come up with some added hp #'s to sell it.

I hope they can keep pressing the envelope, but soon enough, weight loss will not be an option like for the XP. Almost at the bottom. Soon increased major increased stock HP gains will have to be their next selling point.

My .02, but the Apex is a sled of the past... Nytro is the future. Dont see any 4 cylinder options.

The biggest mistake Yammie made with the Nytro is the track and the engine. What were they thinking?

Also Why did Yammi reverse engineer the engine in the Nytro? To comply with the racing rules so they can compete. That is total B.S. Yammi should have put a 600cc 4cylinder in the Nytro that spins around 14k with gear reduction and really kick some ***.

Yamaha forget Snowcross build the sled that we want.

What I want:

Nytro motor with integrated supercharger in the head (the one yamaha has a patent on) that delivers 170-180hp at elevation on pump gas with a factory warranty.

Nytro chassis with 16" wide track with 153 or 162 options, 10 gallon tank, tunnel dump exhaust stock, and some rear seat storage.

Weight - Nytro levels or lower (needs to be at least 50-70lbs lighter than the Apex)

Cost Keep it under $12k USD

Then I woke up......

Nytro that spins around 14k with gear reduction and really kick some ***.

no gear reductions for snocross

I would only want some decent shocks, at least rebuildable. How about some ohlins? I know it was sold, but they still have a connection.

not sure of the exact weights but someone did posts engine weights.

apex 118#

vector 110#

nytro 106#

something like that. the only other added weight would be the gear reduction.

Once again why don't they let the apex motor spin out the r's since it already has gear reduction. Lower gearing 175hp like the R1

my $..02 is needed, I see:p OK, Yamyhammer knows how to weld 2-250cc singles together in a phazer to get 80hp; do you think they can figure out how to weld 2-450's together for 160hp at roughly the same weight?:D

yep, that's my prediction- why re-invent the wheel when they have done it in a smaller scale?

The problem with the motor spinning,even as high as it does is that the gyroscopic effect on such a long crankshaft,the faster it spins the harder it gets to change directions,which one of the reasons the Vector and Nytro work better for boondocking,so I for one hope they don't make the Apex spin any faster.

I red in one mag an interview that Yami tried the 450x2 but had to many vibration issues and as Linc said by the time you counterbalance too much extra weight.....02:face-icon-small-coo

Throw away the Phazer and bolt that little engine in the Nytro for a entry level sled--- than go and put the Apex mill into it also and pump it up to 160 hp with a 162" track for the top end sled.
3 price ranges -- 3 performance levels ---- in the best platform they currently build (does this make only sense to me???
All they have to do is build a decend one piece tunnel and it would be as light as the Nytro now ---- even with the 4 cylinder. (what is it with the piece mail tunnels they build with 1/2 a million rivets and bolts "weight" and"Ice collectors" ????? )
PS; the gear reduction is part of the engine weight , so the difference is not all that great looking at the posted weights.
It would only make sense to go to one platform instead of 3 and come out with better suspension packages. What is the point to have well designed suspensions with poor shocks anyway????
It sure would be nice for them to drop the steel ****** Yamaha has on the sled line --- They sure as heck know how to drop the pounds on the superbikes what's up with that are the sled guys not allowed to talk to the bike guys there.
That's enough ranting out of me for now-------Cheers--------------

oh i forgot it will come with a 16x162 track & will have around 160-165hp could be supercharged but not for sure around same weight as nytro in nytro chassi but i could be just starting a rumor :D but it sounds good:beer;:beer;

Hey Yamaha are you listening?

AS long as everybody is throwing in their $.02 (or $.03 Cdn) how about something between the Phazer and Nytro? I love the Apex and have like and dislikes about the Phazer. How about a 105-115 horse twin with a 144" X 16" X 2.25" 3.0 pitch track, extroverts, front end styling of the Nytro, one piece tunnel with no gaping holes in it, Fox Floats all around, decent storage in the seat, good handwarmers, hooked bars, a better mountain strap, Simmons or Slydog skis and a gripper seat cover like the MX bikes.....oh and a price tag of around $8,000........huh?:beer;

2009

I heard a 136 and or 144 for the nytro.
I also heard 1 all new sled .
now if it is the r-1 motor in a nytro style chassis
or a phazer HO only time will tell.
whatchaheardlately?????????

I've heard that there is something new but it's not going to be what you expect. Thats exactly what the dealer told me cause thats what he said the rep told him. So I think it's either something in the entry level class or touring or workhorse class. But really who the he!! knows?! Just a guess.

I really doubt if Yamaha will have any big changes this year. Most likely just Bold New Graphics and a few updates. Probably a Nytro crossover machine with a 136 or 144.
The embargo date is March 13th so we will all know then.

out at the shop they have a pic yamaha sent them on a sneek peek thing and its like a snowhawk/snoscoot style. i have no idea wat size of track,engine size, etc. i just saw a pic and my dad said thats wat yamaha might come out w/
