Hate my polaris.... (sad, I know)

Cant imagine how I got 2 full years out of one and will be going for a 3rd:face-icon-small-con... Funny thing is this is my first Polaris and its required less working on in the off season to get it ready for the next than any other brand I've had and ZERO work during the season.

But at least you feel like your becoming a better rider riding a chassis that isn't as good,,, imagine the possibilities if you ever graduate:face-icon-small-sho

I can imagine how you got 2 full years, the one pro I had never made it to the off season. Blown motor, bent tunnel, countless belts. Traded it on my first cat the infamous belt eating 12 proclimb blew one belt in 1500 miles. Got a 14 m8 now and in my opinion scud and cat are slowly gaining on the pro. And if yamaha ever gets motivated in the mtn division game over for the other 3, viper going in the right direction

I would hope their gaining, its only been 5 years after all......

I hope they catch up so Poo moves to the next level.

That being said I learned a lesson wishing for my M-chassis to be replaced.

Whaaaaatever. My 2011 is well in to its 4rth season on the factory everything, and I don't take it easy on it. Since they haven't changed too much....I think I'll spend $1000, put pistons in it, better running boards, maybe a new belt and keep riding it.

How many miles are showing on your '11 pro?

Jay. Let us know what your piston's look like when you get it tore down. I have not personally seen too many make it that far.

Like mine? Haha. Two pros one with 1100 miles motor went down the other 850 motor went down. And here I am snowchecked another one haha. I do love the pro chassis

No prob. FWIW....it's pretty damn likely it could use pistons right now. If it wasn't still on warranty...I would have changed them at 2000. It's like 3 or 400 bucks for RKT replacements (just an example)....why mess around. 1 motor rebuild for 3 or 4 seasons of BC riding is not completely out of line IMO. I never made it 2,500 miles on any other sled without breaking anything in the engine/drive system. But I paid for 4 year warranty so what the hell.

Warranty is a good thing to have with these sleds. I'm just curious does everyone typically have to wait 4 weeks to get their sled back in working condition or is it just me? My first pro went down and took 4 weeks and now this one is already on week 2. I wish polaris would have these motors ready to ship next day.

Yeah, I bought a '12 without warranty. I'm at around 800 miles now and thinking new pistons in the off season. At least take a look at the top end. I hope Polaris' newly designed 800 receives a better reputation. (Deservedly)

Yeah mine went down march 4th last year and I picked it up about 5 weeks later. I wasn't real happy with how long it took either but the shop I took it to is definitly on my list of top 3 worst dealers Ive had the pleasure of dealing with. I was also charged $185 for "shop fees" and the $50 deductible.

They also told me the tear down and inspection is not covered under warranty.

I just had a friend whos 13 pro went down last Sunday so we'll see how long before he gets his back...

I know that shop fees aren't included in the warranty but I'd be rereading the part about tear down and inspection.

That is the norm with aftermarket warranty companies. You the customer, must authroize the shop (prior to beginning work) the teardown and inspection of the failed components. Once this has been done, and if it is determined to fall within the parameters of the warranty, then the teardown and inspection are included in the labor cost billed to the warranty company.

If the failure is determined to NOT fall within the guidelines of the warranty, then the teardown and inspection fees are billed to the customer and customer must decide what to do. And since....

The owner is the only person that can legally authorize any work to your vehicle and because in many cases, then you may be on the hook for the initial diagnosis.

There are a very few amount of "shady" aftermarket warranty companies out there that have started to not covering some types of diagnostic procedures but in the case of a motor overhaul, I've never not seen them cover teardown and inspection when it was determined to fall within warranty guidelines.

I know some people don't like that initial "you are on the hook until we determine game" but unfortunately, that is the way most of them work.

Read the fineprint of the policy before you buy and check out the company first. I have run into some very shady aftermarket warranty companies.

Hope that makes sense the pain killers just kicked in....

Had an 11 pro sold after 2 seasons with 4200 mi on it. Lost cyl. Skirt at 3000 mi (rode it out of the back country) Polaris replaced with new short block. Sold it to a guest, still ripping! 13 pro with with 700 almost flawless miles on a BMP 860.. Lost voltage reg. at 600 mi. For work, I've been on a new standard 11,12,13,14.. Lost rod bearing on the 13 std at 3200 mi. ( Got towed out) A fuel pump at 900 mi on the 11. (In the parking lot) All work sleds had at least 3500 back country miles on at end of season. Both motors, fuel pump & voltage reg. we're coved by Polaris.. So approaching 20,000 miles on pro's & all covered! I'm satisfied.....
