Hatcher Pass (willow/palmer)

Hatchers SUCKED today!!!

Hell I could have told ya that, and I havent even been there since last week.

Hatchers needs about 30'' of snow.

If it could get a good snow storm for a day or so then it will set it up great for good riding.

Until then, Hatchers and everywhere else will suck.

We need snow.

Go to thew Pville thead- there are dudes in there who know where some deep untouched snow is....

dont ask where though. :beer;

Woke up late and wanted to ride so took a quick trip up there... We are going to PVille Friday and Saturday. I am going to look for all this "untouched snow" and leave my track mark in it...LOL

Last time we were in PVille we found crazy amounts of fresh powder untouched.

Lmfao, AKSummit you still a little butthurt from the upper huffman thing? The snow at hatchers is good if you dont ride in the parking lot. Its the visibility that has been crap up there lately. I was riding baldy yesterday in over the hood pow, just gotta be willing to look a bit.

well last week we went over dogsled and I put the 1st marks back there. Even then it was 2inch crust with about 2ft powder and min base.

just waiting for some good snow.

Everyone claims they are plowing deep but I see no pics...

Icr posted up a nice pic recently. I think he said that was Southeast Huffman. If you dont already know where Upper Huffman is, youll never find Southeast Huffman though. hehe

You put the first marks in this snow, my group was back there 3 weeks ago. I'll bet there are alot less rocks showing now. We played in the valley at the base of "the wall" all afternoon.

There has been a foot of snow and lots of wind since then. Looks like a nice day up there. I am wondering how much snow they got out of this storm?

Unfortunately it's already too late, just saw the report of three sledders killed up at Turny tonight:( Let's all ride safe and look out for one another until it stabilizes. We don't need to join the lower 48 in avy statistics this year. It has been crazy down there and looks it may be turning that way here. Be safe and enjoy this wonderful sport with respect for how dangerous it can be. Condolences to the family of the loved ones lost. :brokenheart:

went to hatchers CRAP today....

2'' crust on 12'' powder with rock hard base.

Down low in the valley you can suck up to your waist.

Went over dogsled - the Vis was terrible and riding was just blahhh..

Need more snow there thats for sure.

stuck on snowbird???

Just wondering who the genious was that slammed their sled into a cliff wall above the snowbird glacier? We saw/heard that from over a mile away. Completely solo, completely stupid. Some sketchy riding that's for sure; ballsy though I guess...

Dude kind a harsh for your first post on snow west!
Know the dude
Know the spot
Small chute between two rock faces, probaly not visable from where you were sitting. He hit buried rock right in front of critical spot in chute, threw him off his line.
As far as SoLo Goes, Sometimes SoLo is better than NoGo, not a preference but better than sitting on the porch if no one else can ride at the Blue Bird moment!!
Said you guys seemed nicer when chating at base of the tooth.

And that is why I do not ride a smashers pass. It was good like 4 years ago had a blast up there but in the last 3 years i havn't heard anything good.

I live near Finger Lake and the wind has been blowing like crazy for 2 days.
Ive been wanting to go and try out my new skis, but dont want to waste the drive just to find a wind blown mess.

My group found miles of soft, waist deep powder this weekend. About 10 miles or so as the crow flies from the Willow side parking area. I would say exactly where, but we left ALOT of it untouched and we plan to go back next weekend and tear the rest of it up. Ran short on gas, and was worn out.

You need to ride through some wind blown crap to get to the good stuff.
