Getting the New Pro to perform.. Stage Tuning and our "thoughts"

The TIED is a great clutch.. Yes, you WILL need venting.. this Pro design has zero air-flow passing over the clutches and nowhere for hot air to escape.. We will be using the Mod Rods Vents kits (when they arrive)

Keep in mind vents kits do not let hot air out.. Physics does not allow for this.. So, properly designed and placed vents will allow for cold air to ENTER the clutching area to cool the area and components.. This will help out considerably on this chassis..
Clutch heat is a given on ANY belt driven design... but lessening the temps will always be welcome.

Gizmo.. I am not going to get into a discussion regarding that...They are confident in their testing and results, as am I regarding our testing. It is not my place to credit or discredit anybody elses' products...
I only concern myself about my own designs.
I will say, that my sled will not be running a Gizmo.

Kelsey

I already have a tied clutch....want to try what you have when you are ready....

call me this week and I can get some more info on your riding conditions...

Also, know what spring you are currently running in your Tied..

Thanks Kelsey, i hope someone comes up with some horsepower and clutching asap. i had my second ride on the wonderful pro ride and folks i have come to a conclusion. Most of you have no idea about riding in the mountains. This sled (while i give you it handles nice, sidehills good, is fun, and has some good mountain features) is just not that much better than a stock sled 5 years ago. When you ride in steep terrain and deep snow, this sled is lacking horsepower. The clutching falls short, and i may need to go to the camo extreme track again.

For those of you that sit on here discussing which one wins in a drag race and complain about the sled overheating on the trail on the way in, i have only one conclusion about you. You are riding somewhere east of North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming and i have never ridin even that far east. Start a new forum called snoweast so i don't have to scroll through your boring posts to get useful information like Kelseys. Oh yea, i have never bought a product from RKT and don't know Kelsey, but his business has been around since the last time i visited this forum 5 years ago or more. Good luck easterners, keep coming to West Yellowstone to tell your friends you ride in the mountains.

Where have you been the last five years? Or are you riding at 50,000 feet?

Carl's always runs a custom helix too. I doubt there is a lot of performance to be had versus a off the shelve helix but everyone would just copy Carl's or RKT's setup if they didn't have a custom angle. Damn you RKT for trying to make money off your R&D. :pound:

wow your profile name sure fits. and as far as not being on this site in five years bull .... your join date was three ago dumb...

ooooooo flatlanders can talk to :tape2:

LOL... For some reason, all I can think about is the Planet of the Apes and Charelton Heston.. or was that Soylent Green??? Anyway.. for us oll timers... you'll understand that.

Back on topic..
I am not coming on here to promote or market ANY products.. I am simply offering an insight as to what we find in our very methodical testing.. Many have asked for this..
If you are not interested in what we are doing and/or developing for this Pro.. PLEASE.. skip this thread.. no need to read it!!! If you ar ein terested, I will do my best to keep everybody updated...

Most shops will sell you a complete primary and secondary "kit" to fix your issues.. I can tell you that there is nothing wrong with the primary. It functions just fine!! The issues are secondary related. so, the changes we make will be direct to the issue.. no other unnecessary changes.. just the basics...

We KNOW there is big power to be had with some minor engine mods.. I am also working directly with the top Pipe Developer to develop a mountain specific pipe and twins for this Pro..
We stayed clear of the Dragon , ON PURPOSE, for 3 years...But we will be hitting this Pro HARD!
Until you have proper clutching (not the fastest in a race, or biggest wheelie) but SOLID rpms with maximum track speed under HEAVY LOAD.. you are wasting time developing ANY other performance enhancers.. IMO
Now, that we can see the right path to follow on the clutching, we will get to work on the HP dept... Again...we are NOT marketing anything... just reporting developments..

Kelsey

hahaha :face-icon-small-hap
i really do appreciate all the input and heads up. i will be calling you in the next couple of days
Thanks

GrumpyOldBastard, I wish you would come show us "easterners" how to ride, you...grumpy old bastard.

RKT - Keep the info coming, you take the good with the bad here. I don't know much about you as I said before, but I'd like to hear more about your work. I might be buying into the Tied clutch myself.

twin pipes for the pro? tuned with a powercommander? and if rkt is doing it, it should come out as a very well established performance package......sounds like fun getting them to fit in that chassis tho

An improvement over stock is something everybody would be interested in.
i had my second ride on the wonderful pro ride and folks i have come to a conclusion. Most of you have no idea about riding in the mountains.

Well...ya you probably got 99% of Snowest users there.

You're effing High...
When you ride in steep terrain and deep snow, this sled is lacking horsepower.

More is always better, but stock for stock these Pro's are stacking up against even the "160" and "165" Cat and Rev hp numbers, respectively

The clutching falls short, and i may need to go to the camo extreme track again.

The CE and PC shine over stock in certain conditions, less noticeable in deep dry powder

Sometimes, yes even in the mountains, you have to burn down a trail to get to the snow so you're not playing around the parking lot where there is only 2 feet of snow

Start a new forum called snoweast so i don't have to scroll through your boring posts to get useful information like Kelseys.

Haha, ask him out already. Everybody needs a "friend".

Oh yea, i have never bought a product from RKT and don't know Kelsey, but his business has been around since the last time i visited this forum 5 years ago or more. Good luck easterners, keep coming to West Yellowstone to tell your friends you ride in the mountains.

I really want to get a new pro.

But, like Grumpy I would be going from a mod sled to a stock sled. So, I know I would be wanting more HP after a couple of rides also.

With so much changing from the dragon, the aftermarket guys just havent had time to get performance upgrades ready (turbos, pipes, heads, etc) for delivery yet. Be patient Grumpy and you cant compare your Pro to your 1160.

The clutching (P85 and Tss-04)is basically the same as five years ago and the HP at 143-147 is not a huge leap either. The chassis changes make this sled much better than five years ago. But I know you were talking more about HP and getting it to the ground.

TOP Professional Performance folks such as "RKT" will not post their hard earned R&D info, if they can not sell their product at a fair profit to pay for the large cost of being in business!!!

How many $30 springs, $105 clutch weight sets, $110 helix's do I have purchase to get close to the right set-up for my flat-lander 800 Rush, 3???, 4????.......

RKT will have a very strong clutching & engine package for the 800 CFI_2!!!
I believe the new cooler running RKT head adds 10+ HP to the 800 CFI-2, due to Poo's very low compression head design that can run poor gasoline with out burn downs.
I checked compression on two 800 CFI-2 Rush's one at only 105 psi, brother's 800 CFI-2 Rush at only 115 psi, not so efficient, not so strong of a head design??? I used two compression gages, a SLP gage & my old small engine gage.
!!!Check out the RKT Internet sight!!!
Have a Safe Winter; Rich

There is an improvement to be gained in the clutching for sure. Rode with a pretty good clutch set up'ed pro today and it rocked. The suspension also needs a little tweeking per rider. The sled I rode today was an 03 edge fresh crank, pistons and clutching 153 camo extreme piped with Kelsey's porting yada, yada and it is a runner. The pro 163 with clutching alone laid the smack down drag racing the roads(I know) and out climbed just fine. Also boondocked with ease. It is a dealer 'demo' sled, set-up well. But for now STOCK. There will be the occasional 'lemon' out there but from what I have seen, rode and heard from very reliable sources(guys that are on that next level) this is a good platform. Kelsey can find usable power with the best of them and
Pro riders will benefit.
Glad to see you back to playing with the polaris's again Kelsey, my 03 you had a hand in broke a few hearts and caused others lots of money to try to out do.
