Friend or Foe, deciding who's a poser in the parking lot

It is a rare occasion when I will join up with someone else in the parking lot (un-planned). I have had many offers, most times I just smile and say we are headed somewhere new today and most likely it aint going to be much fun...then throw out a few jokes about trying to ride areas you've spotted on google earth and how they never pan out. Then I smile and say I'll take you up on it next time out.

You have ridden enough to know, I can spot someone that knows the game right off. If they ask to tag along (rarely do I see this happen) I ask them where they plan on riding and if they seem to know the area well and mention areas that I know not everyone can get to, I'm all over it. Always fun to ride with new people.

Cheers!
Chris

Hey, can I tag along??????

:D

If that avatar is pic of you, you can ride in my group anytime ;)

Seriously though, pretty much any Snowester is welcome in my group. Look for the black quad cab dodge truck up at the trinities, come over and introduce yourself and I'd consider it a privlage to ride with you.

Cheers!
Chris

seen this happen before

"hey can my buddy from work go too",,,,....

turns out all you do, is dig the guy out all day.

and most times not even prepared.

ahh yes the new guy!!!!!!

You park at Trinity Creek don't you? You've seen my rig up there, the one with the sled deck that rolls down to the ground. F350 Red Crew Cab Long Bed. Say hi next time. I'll be riding a XP with mesh side panels this year.

I belong to the Mile Hi SMC and can always hook-up with club members.

We will invite a single to ride with us only after we explain how we ride and he agrees. I am not afraid to call out a jacka$$ and set him staight. It is our life and safety to be concerned with.:beer;

We do Wade, and I will say hi next time. I'd like to see that XP go.

Cheers!

Hey Graveler.......Thanks again for the tech help this spring......We got John's M up and running. If you thought the skid was beat, you should've seen the front end: All 4 arms were bent, 80% of the bushings were broken, and we had to make a little "adjustment" to the bulkhead....LOL

The replies seem to be better then I would of though. Last year my group of 4 met 4 others at the B&B we were staying at, one guy was boasting about how he knew the one mountain so well so we asked if we could tag along because we didn't know it so well.

They agreed and said no problem, ended up leaving just before us and we had no idea were they were going to park, but anyways we ended up meeting them at the cabin. Started following them and not 20 mins into the ride they take a break! We ended up leaving and keep on riding to find them in the same spot over an hour later  They probably moved a whole 5 miles from the cabin the whole day. The guy who knew the mountain was a ok rider but everyone else was terrible and everytime we seen them atleast one of them was stuck and they were "on a break". It was pretty pathetic, it was my very first trip to the mountains and second time ever riding and these guys with brand new sleds couldn't stop getting stuck for the life of them on perfectly capable sleds. The worst part was, the one time I got stuck the guy said "we are going to go ahead because this big group isn't working" basicly them saying they don't want to help get me unstuck (which took all of 2 mins) even though my group helped dig them out PLENTLY.

Needless to say, that dinner table was deadly quiet because we were right pissed even though we tried to forget it.

Sadly this year one riding buddy got married and another can't afford to ride this year, it's only going to be a very few rides unless me and 1 buddy can find some good people to ride with, but with a lot of people today were very worried because both of us have only been to the mountains a few times and don't feel comfortable about just us two heading out.

Ok... gotta ask. Being a mostly a non-drinking man, you won't hafta worry about me getting plowed on a ride. But the one thing I'm without is a beacon. I noticed that alot of people seem to deem a worth while rider as someone with a beacon. Does that make or break a deal? Am I going to get left in the parking lot because of that?

Good chance. We have an extra usually but that only helps us find you if you don't know how to use it. We've ridden with people without before and probably unknowingly with some that couldn't search with them.

maybe i'm in the minority but i like riding with new people. usually learning some new little tips and tricks and areas to ride. ive really only ridden with slower riders but i dont mind waiting and getting a chuckle out of someone else's misfortune, getting stuck etc. hey a day digging out sleds beats a day at work any day.

i guess im in the minority to... i really enjoy meeting new people. theres always something that i can learn from others whether that be good or bad. i also like helping people that are new to the sport out. id rather be a good ambassador to the sport than some of the typical cliques that you see. so barring drinking or the overt bragger.... anybody is welcome to tag along with our group. and i also concur... a day digging sleds out beats any day at work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D:D:D:D:D

If I am going to meet up with people to ride, I usually wait until we are on the hill. Five minutes of seeing how someone rides can say allot. I've met some great riders on the hill!!! The only time we met up and rode with a different group in the parking lot was a disaster. We were new to a area and this other group had rode here "plenty of times" and "know the area well" Well to make a long story short, the group was a bunch of tards who only rode the area once. When it kind of clouded in, they had no idea where to go. It was us (who never rode the area before) who had to lead the group out!!!
