Four Wheeler Question

What...no Grizzly in the mix?? I have a couple 07 700's and they are very impressive. The ride and handling are great. I hear ya about the power of an ATV compared to a sled. It always takes me a little while to used it.

To tell you the truth I don't know much about the Grizz, I've always liked yammy street bikes, and have owned a couple, I'm not that fond of the local dealer, I've had them try to rip me off on bike parts in the past. As far as the power thing goes, last year I honestly thought there was something wrong with my quad the first time I rode it, to the point of asking someone I was riding with to hop on it and see if they thought so.......

Between the 800 sportsman and the 750 KQ, I'd go with the king quad. I was quad shopping last year about this time, and I tested almost all the quads (except the brute force.) I ranked them like this:

800 Outlander- Awesome power, it will outrun a lot of sport quads, sounds like a harley. But in plain jane form, ugly as hell.

650 Outlander- Impressive power for a 650. Comfortable to ride. Sportier look than most utility quads.

700 King Quad-I really liked it, but just didn't have the guts of the v-twin.

700 Grizzly- Same as above, but the power steering was nice.

800 Sportsman- Just felt way too big, might as well have a cj jeep with a small block chevy. At least you would have some power.

650/750 Brute Force- Didn't ride them.

I ended up with a can am outlander 650 xt. It's been a really good bike for me. It will run with/run away from every other 700 class utility quad I've been around. It's for sale too, nothing wrong with it, just not getting enough use out of it too justify having it.

Thanks for the review of the class, if the 650 xt is that nice, why are you selling it?:D

I've heard the 650 was a good quad too, how much cheaper are they than the 800?

I would go with the side X sides first. And if i had to pick a quad i would say the grizzly first, then the kawi

My wife loves the Razr, just too much money. And if we got one she'd take it all the time and I'd be stuck with the 500 HO that I have, but if we got a new quad I could guilt her into claiming the 500 as hers, since I've taken good care of it for years and she broke a rack last year when she rolled it.

The Arctic Cat 700h1 is a awesome machine. I have a 500 sportsman and I demo the 700 an 800 sportsman before getting the H1 Cat. I liked the Cat the best, especially if you use it for much utillity work the Cat has low end like no other. Now the Cat 1000 is a whole nother story. Wow is all I can say and you have to ride one to believe it. They fly!

I'm getting married in a few weeks and need to raise some money. That and I haven't had time to ride it. If it doesn't sell, no big deal I'll keep it.

The price on the 650 xt and the plain 800 were exactly the same. I think the 800 xt was $1000 more than the 650 xt.

:) just bought the wife an 06 700 arctic cat with about 1000 miles on it I ride an 02 700 sportsman..........really dont care about the speed but the ride is rally what is important to me.............really like it..............:beer;

the spostman x2 in the candy apple red is one sweet lookin machine, and they go everywhere a regular quad goes, the box is super handy, you can pack half an elk and your packs, no problem

By how much?

Last weekend I went ridding, we had a bunch of wheelers and then 2 Yanaha Rihno's. And the trails we ride are.....not wide, there were times where the regular wheelers would scrape the trees, sharp turns around rocks while goin up hill etc...

I couldn't believe the stuff those rhinos would go through, I know they obviously cant go everywhere a regular ATV can, but i was still impressed

grizzly with the power steering is awesome.by far the smoothest ride.there is also a built in fuel controller so when you add mods you won't have to run an aftermarket fuel box.

I'm actually leaning toward the 700 x2 a little, it costs less than the 800 sportsman and from what I've heard the power isn't much different between the two. I really like the flat black color, which isn't available in the 700 unfortunately.

sounds like I need to take a little closer look at yammys, like I said before I don't really care for my local dealer, but there are two more within 45 minutes....

I bought a Renegade because it was the first quad I road that had enough power and handled good. It's a blast to ride. If you need to haul stuff or stay relatively clean, then they suck. Try and test ride what your purchasing and look for new old model years. They are a lot cheaper for basically the same d@m thing.

I also highly recommend the Grizz

2500 miles on my 05 660 grizz and not one single issue with it

700 EFI with power steering is freaking awesome

You can lock up all 4 wheels and not have the bars jump back and forth while climbing nasty rocks and junk. You can actually run full lockup and drive with one hand!

Also, when you’re bopping down the trail looking off into the woods and hook a tire on a log someone sawed off on the side of the trail you won't have the bars rip out of your hands and bruise the heck out of your leg!

Grizz is (far as a know) the only quad with independent brakes, not the single lever biased brake system...the Grizz is like a motorcycle brake where YOU control the bias front and rear....like if your backing back down a steep hill you can apply brakes where you need it, single lever biased systems are dangerous in steep slippery conditions.

When going down a very steep slope biased brakes (single lever) will tend to over brake the front tires and lock up the back tires, this will cause the rear of the quad to try to ‘come around’ on you, this will cause you to speed up to keep the rear tires behind you, then you try to slow and it does it again and thus you gain speed. If the hill is too long then you loose it and die.

It would be worth your while. Once you try the power steering you will be sold. Great machine with absolutely no problems.

I wouldn't have guessed power steering was that big of a deal, but good to know. I'm planning to test ride before I buy, just want to narrow the search down a little first. You guys are just making it harder by bringing up ones I hadn't thought of yet....
