Forum Expert 9R review

8300 is leaving some on the table. I don't care what their engineer's say. You want minimum 8400 and if you're riding trees who cares about a little over rev.
That is what they told me. I knew you said, burandt said, 8400. What does burandt know anyway? I'm going to try it and we'll see. 8400 seems high to keep a twin alive but that is what i ran my boost at.

How can you compare it to a motor that has smaller pistons, heavier crank, and heavier flywheel. These light motors might come apart with harmonics above what they are designed for.

Sure but i meant it makes no sense to compare them when considering if they should run at the same rpm.
All i am saying is rpm seems high for a twin and yes a big bore would be worse. Burandt cares if they run and work. He gets a new batch the next year. That might be harsh on him because it doesn't matter how good he makes them look if they don't hold up and nobody buys them. Doo is 7900 and seems like the old bomb proof suzuki was less. Burandt should know as good as anyone where the power is at. Im fine at 83 or 84. Don't believe you've left anything on the table on 100 rpm. 500 rpm you've left a bunch

It's not like they won't warranty it. Run it until it grenades. If you can't afford 2 sleds, you can't afford to high performance snowmobile. Stuck to the cheap heavy stuff .

You'd need a dyno run at the elevation you're running to say how much you're leaving on the table. Just because someone's reporting they got the best results at 8500 doesn't mean they're actually getting the most power (like maybe the clutching is giving them better mid-range, and that's what they're noticing). Even assuming it is, it may not hold up if you ride at different elevations. I'd also agree with the concern about going much past the factory recommended peak RPM. It might be fine, or it might cut engine and even clutch life drastically. Even under warranty, downtime sucks. Lastly, there's the question of hot pipe vs. warm pipe. If you're more into open terrain and long WOT pulls, you'll want a higher peak RPM to take advantage of the hot pipe vs. tree riding, on/off throttle where the pipe won't get hot enough and you're revving past the peak power point.

The clutches become less efficient the more rpms you run so power gain needs to be sufficient to over come this as well. might as well run twins and spin it 9000.

I like how you guys are all a bunch of engineer's and scientist's. I'm telling you what the sled feels like when you are actually riding it. I could give a rat's ass what someone with a degree tells me. One of the best riders in the world happened to agree with me while Polaris engineer's tried to tell him otherwise as well. The sled feels a lot better when it can Rev to 8500 vs 8300. If that shortens the motor life, well that's the kid that buys my sled off me next years problem. Not my problem.

You guys that have your sleds tuned to only running to 8200 rpms because that's what Polaris says are the same tools who see me riding on the mountain and say well he isn't that good, it's just because of the set up he has ?

Yeah, 15-40 is going to be pretty thick. I'd back it off to a 0w-15, which can be found at the Toyota dealer.

In all reality, any good survive 2t oil should be fine. I'm sure there's plenty better than Polaris. Hell, redline is cheaper and should be better.

Let me guess your occupation. Ummm, petroleum engineer. Am I close ?

You could give a rat’s ass?
Or couldn’t give a rat’s ass?

Man you guys are so gullible. You allready forgot chadley don’t give a ****? He’s the rick flair of snowest the honey badger of the gnar! Yes a dyno is science but the honey badgers arse can feel the science way more betterer than some cry baby dyno! Wtf!

You old guys…this is called trolling. It’s fun if your not to mean . It will cause people to be upset and maybe murder you though so be cautious when poking bears.

? I roll my eyes anytime someone mentions dyno or starts doing math. Ride the fuggin thing, that will tell you what you need to know.
