Fairview Shootout???

The whole story is just that.

Go to Utah and see. The sleds are Factory demos that cat sends them.

Post from the off FB.

Came to Fairview to ride turbo sleds. Leaving the parking lot with no snow on the sleds or in the trailer, but with citations for not having proof of ownership. Sleds impounded and nothing we can do about it until Monday. Utah....grrrrr!

Fairview, UT. In the sate of Utah you have to have proof of registration and ownership even if the sleds are in the trailer, sled deck, back of your truck. By law the state will take ownership of them. These are demo sleds that OEM's let us demo to the public. "experimental vehicles"

Sanpete county is the worst - could have told you to have paperwork ready for down there. I refuse to go back down theRe just cause they harrass out of state people so much

The locals call this fool lunch box Larry.

I think it is a worthy cause...assuming there is not more to the story, which I honestly suspect....to get an attorney involved, for the sake of sledding. If that really is the law, it is in need of change, as that is ridiculous!!! It will not change, unless someone takes up the cause!

There are a lot of pissed off locals that will be giving the county an earful about this idiotic lack of common sense displayed by the law enforcement today. Sanpete County needs all the tourism $$ it can get and with state/county law enforcement treating our visitors like this, it is biting the hand that feeds them and their friends/families' businesses! Instead of writing tickets to get a short term cash flow, how about selling registrations in the parking lot and giving people and sledders a long term welcome to the county......sledders in turn will bring their money for the gas stations, the local motorsports stores, hotels, etc etc etc. This sentiment will be conveyed to law enforcement agencies in the coming weeks. I'm sure the more letters they get, the more they'll understand the stupidity of their actions.

WOW!!! That is a bunch of BS. I have been told that as long as you don't take them off the trailer if it is not registered you are fine. BTW How I am supposed to have a tittle if I have a loan on the sled? That's is a bunch of BULL!!! I would fight it all the way and make them pay for the hassle they caused you. It's not the law that you have to have the tittle in hand. I will come down there and fight for you.

I know one of the County sherifs down there. He is actually my uncle. Let me know your names and the full story and I will see if I can get a hold of him tomorrow. This was not right at all. He is a snowmobiler too so maybe I can get some pull with him. I will call him first thing in the morning. PM me some names and numbers to get a hold of you.

Wow is all I can say. Way to promote Sanpete.

Just a side note:
Pretty sure the word Title was used in place of Registration.
You are required to have your registration and ID with you. Cost us last year.:face-icon-small-sad

were these sleds even registered? even dealers have to have dealer plates for demo sleds, they probly wouldnt have hassled you for the ownership thing,if they were registered...

Sad peeps are talking about this instead of the good time all could of had..... Usually is talk about the bad weather.. geese........

I didn't stick around long enough for any racing of the big boys.

But Provo ski-doo supplied great hot dogs and chips at Race Bowl!!!!
Thanks to them and the guy who brought the cooker sled as usual, thanks again.

Turboman1 brought out his project sled for this year. An amazing 92' Indy 500. That just has a M1200 Turbo powering it! It was an amazing sled.
Diamond S was there with their Ti nypex's.
Shain's Twisted M8 that has a 174"x3" track (super impressive to look at the depth of those lugs) was running awesome, he lost a jack shaft at lunch time though.

K-mod was there.... Not sure what sled they had..

Coolest part was watching a turbo M8 take 5 minutes to roll down Race bowl. It was agonizing...... He fired it up and rode it off though!!!! Luckily his hood was off to limit the damage. He just lost the sled climbing about 100' from the top, he almost caught up to it and saved it until it reached a steeper part and then, Whoop!!! Another 5 minutes of rolling to the bottom. It was crazy to watch!!! It just didn't stop rolling!!!

Forest Service...

they want snowmobiles gone. This is how they accomplish that, Just as has been stated in this article "Sanpete county is the worst - could have told you to have paperwork ready for down there. I refuse to go back down theRe just cause they harrass out of state people so much

The locals call this fool lunch box Larry." M.M. Motorsports. YOU sucked f.s.'s worm right down your throat, and now the hook is stuck . you are a dealer and you know you need a dealer plate or registration. even out of state riders MUST have there sleds registered, unless they are for competition closed course use ONLY. but, irregardless. f.s. has won already because it knows people wont be back because of them. HAIL HITLER.

times i have been checked they want current rv sticker and the registration...no need for title...a number of people don't want to registar their sleds....just like a car, if i was stopped i need registration and proof of insurance....besides, if somebody stole my sled and was riding it, they should be caught and the sled impounded....

Lunch box Larry is he a county sheriff? Local cop? FS cop?.....

That's just it. How many stolen sleds have been found by implementing the law this way?

I know most out of state sledders are baffled when they come to Utah and see that having registration is inforced. All my relatives that ride in Wyoming and Idaho have never registered there sleds ever.....even in the state they live and ride in. Its one of those things you need to have around here. Funny thing is you can get a out of state permit for 25 bucks and avoid most head hunting barney fife do-no-gooders law enforcement peeps.

This happened to me about three years ago down there and I haven't and will NOT go back again!!!! when it was all said and done, ticket, impound fees, driving back to appear, lost work it cost me a little over a thousand bucks!!!!! just because i didn't have title in the sled with me~~~ a total bunch of BS!!! there are alot of other states that are happy to see me,my sleds & are very appreciative of the contribution i give to there economy!

So, did nobody win?

Boo hoo you had no proof of ownership and they impounded your sled until you can prove its yours. You would be happy if your sled was stolen and they did this and found it for you. Next time bring proof of ownership.

Until then let's here some more racin details!

As much as I would like to comment on the fish cop episode, I'll hold my tongue. I'll just say, know and obey the local laws no matter where you ride. It's pretty simple.

The weather at fairview was perfect. Sunny, warm, awesome. I wish I would have taken more video and pics. I don't think there was enough racing to claim a winner. The turn out was pretty poor. Although from watching and racing I'm pretty sure it would have been one of the diamond S titanium turbo nytros.

The weather was great and the hot dogs provided by Provo Ski-Doo were great!

From everything I saw, Russ Stevens on the Diamond S "Black Widow" RX-1 turbo was the fastest. K-Mod wasn't too far behind.
