I am considering to build a triple rack from my tm-40 parts and wait with trying the lectron carbs. It will probably be easier to tune in the rack carbs, i have a lot of different jets and needles for them as well.

I talked to a local guy that has some experience with lectron carbs on atv racers.
He told me that he installed two sets of adjustable powerjets in his carbs,
One of them had the siphon tube cut lower than half throttle, the other one in center.
He told me that the lower powerjet did wonders being able to add/adjust fuel in low throttle positions.

He converted to efi a couple of years ago, and sold all his adjustment tools for the lectron carbs... (Was hoping to borrow his stuff...)

Does anyone have any comments to this? Good idea?

being you have all the parts to go both ways id say run the lectrons for a month while you build the 40s switch em out and see what YOU like better. i have some crankshop 48s and my thumb gets way sore. but i dont, cant, or havent really ride that sled all that much. im still building it for the third time

Andreas, H5YR (High 5 you rock). Awesome project. Damn wished that I had the time to finish my project, but never could find the time so I parted it out. Ended up going for a brand new stocker, Lynx Boondocker instead.

Maybe next year..

Keep up the good work!

I'm looking at building up my 650 this summer, and I had a few questions as far as the carbs and maybe even putting efi on it? I'd like quicker throttle response out of it, which I'm expecting to get out of multiple things. But anyhow, right now it's the stock 1990 carbs, I was curious as to how hard it would be to adapt a rack set off of a Yamaha and make it work? I was just curious with the idea of putting back on throttle bodies off of and RXL or later 650. I was looking around online and heard of some people hacking the computer on the efi, enabling them to control the fuel and air ratio. This one is probably way out of my league, but what about Megasquirt? I've heard it mentioned a few times, but I figure there's a reason the majority of these sleds are carbed? I also read off of Snowmobile Fanatics, that this guy used the injectors off of a mitsubishi lancer 8, he said they were almost a direct fit, all he had to do was drill it out larger, but the depth was still the same. I guess I'm just wondering why not efi, why carbs? Is efi not worth the battle?

hi, bought a 1200 crank on ebay.
the first picture is the crank i thought i bought, the last two is what i got.
loks like a watercraft crank whit a snowmobile pto`end.
Can this be used?

I need to find a coolant hose for the IQR 1200 conversion, the one that runs from the brake caliper to the waterpump. Can anyone help me out with a part # or application?

Yep you can use it ( BUT ) you got took for a ride. ( if the first picture is what you were lead to believe ) and you got a 1200 water crank with the ends changed.

a few years ago sold one just like that to a guy that wanted one really CHEAP.

It will run.......its not balanced the best and the phase is backwards.

It fires ( Mag -----PTO----then Center )

Instead of ( MAG - CENTER - PTO )

It will actually work better then it looks.

Has anyone ever used a mikuni triple rack carb setup on a 1200 in the IQR chassie? I'm trying to make one fit and I can't. There isn't enough room on the right hand side, the carbs hit the brake caliper. It seems to fit top to bottom and front to back (it's tight but I think I can make it work) but it needs to move about 1/2" further to the right. Short of not running the coolant through the caliper and machining the water boss off I don't know if it's possible. Anyone got any experience with this? Thanks, Jay

DOH!!! My kids right, jesus doesn't love me.

Edit: well at least I wouldn't need that stupid hose I can't find.

MSX 140 Cases??

I searched until I can't search anymore. I'm thinking the MSX 140 1200cc watercraft cases will work but I don't know. I know the bore and stroke is the same as the 800 Liberty and the bearings are 5207s but thats all I can find. Has anyone used this to make a 1200 and not have to machine the cases for the XC 800 cylinder?

Brake caliper from a 900 RMK bolts right on and everything fits. Rerouted the coolant line around the chaincase and good to go. Thanks for the tips guys.

1200 PWC MSX 140

Someone here must know the answer. I'm looking at this in an auction. I would greatly appreciate anyone's help :face-icon-small-hap

its a different part number so there are probably some differences. if it dosnt cost much its worth a shot maby. get yourself a set of each and compare them. the reed cages might be different or the bolt spacing on the mag side for brads plate. a guy could fit one himself but it gets to be time consuming. then again it might be the same too???

ExYammi,

do you have a photo of the cases? I think the Yamaha PWC engine's use a weird engine mounting system that could be a real nightmare to fit into a sled? not 100% sure but it might be something to look into.

msx 140 is a Polaris case and is the correct one, i guess it allso need to be fly cut?!

The 900, 1050 or 1200 cases are basically the same, one just need moore machining around the cylinder then the other one.

All this is covered in this tread.

These are wicked motors!!!
