-1200 motor buildt by Indy Dan
-Tunnel and cooler from Brad.
-Crankshop pipes

Considering front and rear suspension from timbersled.

What have you guys done about the brake caliper when installing the wc motor in a iqr chassie?
I guess its possible to mill off the water cooling to make room for the mag carb.
Does anyone know if wilwood has a caliper that fit? Would look better.

Does anyone have any tips regarding gearing ratio? I am going to run a 162-163" track with 2,5" lugs

I just cleaned the coolant hose off mine, works fine and everything fits. I havent bolted one on yet but Im fairly sure a caliper from an IQ sled of the same year will work and doesnt have a coolant hose.

I went with 21/43 ratio with a 162x 2.5 track, 7 tooth 3" pitch drivers. I ride at 6 to 7k feet.

good luck with the build, I just got mine running a few weeks ago. its a bit of a project you have ahead of yourself but it sure feels good when you finally pull the cord!

So I think I will jump on the watercraft bandwagon, totally makes sense to me. I'll either piece one together over the next year or I'll buy a running used one if I can find it at the right price. I'd like to keep it reliable, pump gas etc 230hp is more than enough. If anyone has something to sell please let me know.

thanks.

Sorry but I can't help myself, I was out yesterday on mine and I just LOVE this thing. I haven't had this much FUN on a sled in an awfully long time. The HP is just stupid and my hat is off to the guy I bought it from, the clutching is perfect. I made a pull yesterday on a pretty good hill and real close to the top I was headed into some rocks that I couldn't see going up the hill, you can just back off, pick a new line, ride thru the rocks and then get back on it. Mine is a holz custom and Mark did an amazing job on this thing, the rear skid has a small horizontal fox air shock that you can adjust to control ski lift and it works beautifully. I know it's old tech but it still works pretty good. Absolutely build yourself one, you will never regret it. :face-icon-small-hap

good to see you guys are still building these sleds! I miss mine sometimes. sure was a fun sled when it was working right!

burried

This is going to get hurried and lost in this forum especially when nobody posts on it for two months that's yet another good reason to have it in a slower fourm

I'm leaving in the morning to go pick up my 2nd one, an '06 IQR chassie with one of Brad's 1200's in it. My wife finally rode my Holz gen 2 1200 last saturday due to her sled's temp sensor failing and in her words "THIS THING IS AWESOME" then she wouldn't give it back :face-icon-small-dis Sooo, a 14 hr drive one way and she can have her own. The fng thing better not be faster than mine. :face-icon-small-blu

Years of good info in here. If you look hard enough you might find Jr High pics of Darren and Jim....

No kidding! This thread is why I know you....this thread is why I know Curt....this thread is responsible for the demise of several relationships of mine....this thread is what Modding a sled is, every other mod to a sled is child's play. Anyone who has built a ground up sled and engine with one is part of a exclusive club!

This is a "Outstanding" thread! I too own a 1200 in a Gen 2. I havent had a chance to ride it yet but I can only imagine what its like after pulling it out of the trailer to the shop.... Click on pics to make bigger.
