problems

so got my 1200 on the cooke city snow tues and it was so so. not all it could be. felt like about 150 hp. my egt read roughly 1050 all day, water 150 ish, and i know i didnt have all my rpm. also has a low end bog, if you get it reving a little it takes care of that. my avenger 3 dosnt quite work for it wont show correct rpm. i just put on 1 new regulator off of a 1m 900 cat.

so im thinking smaller mains, bigger pilots, and move my needle maby?

im running 48 mm crank shop carbs, slp pipes, ported, pump gas,

i cant remember whats in my carb now. its been sice last winter since i had them apart.

I hear there is some working well and Gus swears he can make it happen.

There is only one.... if you are planning this project, I hope you have lots of patience. There is alot of variables to dropping a turbo on this monster.

Well I am hoping he will pass on some of his knowledge for sure. I have not got around to asking him so we will see. I am pretty sure I wouldnt stand a chance in hell without input from guys like him Thats for sure!

There was a discussion about the weight of these motors a little way back, just wanted to add I weighed my 1200 today and it tipped the scales at 113lbs. Thats with the recoil and motor plate, no carbs.

RIDECATS: How is she runnin this year, anything new?

.... have not got a chance to get out west yet in 09-10 season. Going to try for week between xmas-new years to Snowy's. :beer;:beer;

.....had it running really well at end of last year, was able to tune up from 1050 egt to 1450 egt over last season and it seems just about right now.

....might try for some more compression? Anyone have thoughts on how tight you can run a 1050 on pump gas at >7000 ft?

... bought a diamond s gen III chassis at haydays that I thought i would use but ended up selling it since no time to get it together.

have you got out yet with the Nytro much - how its running?

glad to hear...hope you get to point it up hill a bunch soon.

WRT CR at 7K+...I'd think 11.5 would be a good target...ask 1200PSI where he runs his 1200's...that would be a good baseline. If I recall...you could drop the jugs with a thinner base gasket to easily gain CR... Remember to maintain the squish.

Nytro ran well last spring...wasn't able to ride as much as I'd like. Everything is ready to go this year...including my boys' old phazers...planning on spending a lot of time with them this winter...should be a blast.

Who's the guy on here that sells Phantom rope (I believe its called that) for the recoil? After getting my 1200 installed this weekend and starting it up I can tell I am going to need some good rope in the recoil.

I have some if you need it

anyone have input on how to strengthen an edge rmk bulkhead for this motor? Weight is no object, its gonna be a high mile weekend warrior, looking to ride rather than be towed, 550lb sled.
I'd like to do an IQR but i have a boat load of trick new edge parts that i've collected.
Going to use one front torque arm, and as many motor mounts as i can. Also thinking about doing some kind of structural bracing under the motor on both pto and mag sides as this is where my gen 2 has broken time and again.

This motor is far from dead for me, fuel consumption is so low, its so reliable you need a fleet of chassis to put the motor in cause your gonna destroy chassis way before the motor goes down, and its just wayyy too much fun to show the nay sayers what a little stock cyl, pump gas 1200 can do. Its got years left for me.
