My bro and I had our IQR12's out this weekend. I put a 144 ez ryde and a 2". The ez ryde was the best purchase i have made in a while. Bummer part was she was running so well all day. I have 42.5 racks and 400 main with powerjet turned out to 460. She is still rich but it was -5degrees and I wasn't going to turn her down. I have the 04 pro xr8 needle and leaned it out to the 2.5clip spot. My egt's dropped but still not enough. It was good enough for that ride, rather be rich than lean. She ripped all day, winning all the races with the 4 big blocks easily. Then we stopped for a rest, went to start her back up and she was locked up tight, couldn't move the crank. I thought the recoil was hung up but that wasn't it. I checked all my plugs and they were rich. I grabbed the waterpump and the mag housing is moving, wtf. Good thing I just bought a xcr ignition with flywheel and stator cause mine is likely smoked. What the hell caused all that. It is the new housing and was installed by brad. My motor is solid, crazy bolted down, 3 x 90 duro mounts in the rear with 4 in the front and 1 ultra mount plus 2 torque arms. The motor doesn't move, only the mag housing. I will pull it all apart today and make sure it is the mag housing and not a powervalve dropping. Damn, was really hoping not to have to wrench all winter again.

yep

no doubt, unemployed so thats how its going to sit for a long while too. man that was a lot of dedication and cash to build, still looks good i guess

809

just about blew up my 809 today! forgot to add more coolent after the rebuild she was hot somehow fouled 2 of three plugs. keeping a good track record

1050 King Cat.....couple updates

So I have the 1050 running pretty well the last trip out west but not really happy with the low-mid transition jetting seemed like it could be better. I had a buddy ride it and he was big grins but I thought it could be better. Got heat in the shop finally (it's -10ish in MN now) and had some time to try somethings today to improve it.

Went to smaller tubes (from Q2 to P8) and raised the needle (6DH4) up one clip position. I was amazed how much of an improvement was on my sled - very happy with the simple change and an really liking the watercraft engine. it just RIPS and down at Mn altitude it is scary powerful.

Also for those of you rising at different altitudes I have having great luck with the ATACC - rode WY (11K ft) to MN (1K) with with 20 to -20 temp swing ALL with the same jetting. Very simple device with simple install and operation.

Need to try some more clutching changes - anyone using the Dalton adjustable weights? Do you like how they adjust - could you do in the field easily with a pocket of screws an simple tool?

Have fun - be safe

Well I had a minor mishap the first time I got my 1200 out on snow, I forgot to tighten a float bowl plug and it fell out. Good thing was I shut it down in time and no damage was done. Well today I got a new float bowl plug and get the sled out for the second time. First thing I noticed is that I seem to be very lean in the midrange, what are acceptable midrange EGT temps? I know it depends on probe placement and you should use piston wash and plug color to establish you correct EGT readings, but I just need a baseline to watch while getting it dialed in. I didnt take a plug chop because I thought it was too lean and too it right back to the shop.

Here is what I am running in the carbs, I have some richer needle and needle jets I am going to try. My alt is around 2000 feet and it was around 35 today. Also I have power jets installed

Mains 410
Needle Jets AA-5
Needles 7DH2
Pilots 60

One quick question about the power jets, is the knob screwed out all the way rich?

I had that happen once. The mag housing was hitting the bulkhead under load. Didn't take much. After that, it wouldn't stay tight until I put some dowels in it.

You might have a broken mag-to-housing bolt or just worked loose.

Ran into problems with my 1050. It seems that the crank has twisted between the pto and center cylinder. Is this a common problem and is there some way to secure this place? The engine has only been driven for a tank or two so it went pretty easily.

Lynn, ya I broke a couple bolts in the housing. My motor is solid though, good thing I had a xcr ignition waiting cause the ultra stator and flywheel is toast. I will double check the clearance but I have 2 fingers now, my bro had that problem so I made sure I cut it out a ton.

Got a little more time on mine this weekend, havent really rode it yet, just been taking it out and making some pulls tuning it. Still 200 rpm short on top and the engagement is 500 rpm low from where I want it. Got a lean spot in the mid range, going to have to raise the needle and see if that takes care of it, if not I have a richer needle to try. I am also still rich on top, but I am still adjusting the fuel on top by slowly turning the powerjets down.

I got a few videos of it pulling some power wheelies, I can post the links if anyone wants to see them.

If there's anyone looking to build one, I have a nice 2003 1200 case, Ultra recoil and coils for sale. $450 shipped. I also have three SLP 800 pipes, $300

I was just reading through this. i think there are still WC motors out there the old names arent on here because they have them figured out and dont need the advice. I am on my 3rd winter with mine and think i am finally getting close. i am at 0-500 ft in mich and around here it is still bad azz. for racing it is tough to beat the turbos and lots of guys are running nos but for a pull and go rider there are few that have the power. lots of stuff goes into a race, holeshot, gearing, clutching etc but all around for low end throttle response and shear on tap all the time power this motor rocks. good luck keeping everything else together though. if some of you guys at low elevation have questions feel free to pm me or email bobmoylan@hotmail.com i dont get on here as much as i used to. (maybe its the 3 little kids) my new helixs did show up today so i guess it is garage time for the night, big races this weekend around these parts!
