Anyone running a mesh hood on a Gen II with a 1200? I am looking for options on a hood, I want to go mesh to keep down under hood heat.

Does anyone have a picture of the Diamond S hood with their gauge pod.

This is about the last thing I need to finish off my 1200.

Why didn't you tell me you wanted a mesh hood before I sold my RMK Tim?

Anyway, you've got that fancy new digital gauge. Mount that to the hood with a bent plate behind the windshield and put some walmart fog lights in front of the windshield.

I know you've seen this before but I'll post it anyways.

Guys, when I was running the big 'hundys I hated the bars with how the light switches, grip switches, nitrous switch etc.

Check this out!

Hello, got my 1050 running and testdrove it a few days. Now ran into some problems. The pto side cylinder does not run well. It runs significately colder than the other two. Also when on idle it does not fire very often. Also detonates in the pipe from time to time. It worked fine on the first rides.

Checked the compression, they were 130 psi in every cylinder.
Cleaned the carbs because the keihins i have are flooding sometimes. Did not do any help.
Checked the reeds and also changed the reeds from pto to center and from center to pto. Did not help.
Also tested the carbs the same way. Crank seal tested also, does not leak. Coils are ok also, changed them and did not help.

Took the head of and everything seems to be fine

I am running out of ideas here, i think the only possible thing is that my magneto or cdi are not working right. They are quite old from an 650. Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong?

We got some snow here and would be nice to ride it to get the cluthing done. Also messed up my christmas, did nothing but tried to figure out what was wrong :D

That one i havent checked, i thought about it also. But it would have to be way of so that it would work that bad. Also cant see when it would have gone wrong, its only driven about two tanks of gas and it is welded. But it is still possible i admit that.

You have a electric problem, it deto in the pipe becorce you dont have spark all the time, the fuel go out into the pipe, when you get a spark agein the fuel will burn/explode in the pipe.
I think stator or coil.

Thats what i have thought also. Coils are ok, have tested with others. I am going change all the electrics so that i get more powerfull lightining coil also. Hope it does the trick.

Just got powerjets installed in my carbs. Can anyone give me a jetting baseline to get me started?

40mm round slides trail ported, case ported, and crank shop pipes and I ride right around 2000 feet. Oh and its a 1200.

quirks to termination

so i worked on my 1200 late late last night got all the low end bog out by increaseing pilots, gained my top rpms lowering mains, real arm streacher today. went out to do a plug check across the field. warmed it up good putting around then pinned it pulled the teather and nothing happened. oops guess i wired that wrong? well when i had it pinned i looked at the avenger 3 and it read safe to me 8150 rpm, 1150 top temp, and 135 water. safe enough to tool around a little before i bring it back inside. hang it up on the side of the ditch full out side hill wheelie blowing the doors off of my buddy on a thundercat i just streached out for him...... screech snap clack clack clack blaaaahhhhh!!!! and shes dead RIP 1200wc mag side cyl is gone

soo

so does anybody know if wilderness sports in new plymouth id is in or out of business? thats where i had my cyl done before, i might be sol. hope someone else can match with the quality that came from Bill Loften.

Just pop in a couple sizes leaner main jet.
Open up the powerjet, make a pull, you will feel it nose over with too much fuel. Cut back the fuel a 1/4 each pull until it cleans up. Once this happens, you are still on the rich side, but very safe. This is verified once you start to gain elevation as it will gurgle again. Just keep adjusting the fuel back as you gain altitude. Then you can make some pulls to check piston wash.

CS pipes

Woody told me to let you all know about a few things he has noticed and confirmed on the dyno, regarding the CS's pipes for these motors.
As you may or may not know, both he and his son has 1200 IQ's with chromed Crankshop pipes.

You would think that two sets of pipes, built by the same company and for the same motor and chassie would be the same.
Or at least close. ( we understand these are built to order)
But....... they are not!

Comparing them visually, mounted on the two 1200 IQs sitting side by side, it's easy to see what set will perform better! Smoother bends, better welds etc etc.
I've seen it with my own two eyes, so no question..
So, to remove variables, both sets were tested on the same engine.

No surprice, but the poor looking set dynoed about 10 hp less and also had a lower than the ordered and advertised 8500rpm peak. (8200)

I also have CS pipes on my 1200, and it will be in the dyno soon.
Hopefully my CS-pipes are as good as they can be!

That said, SLP-pipes are by far better pipes!
Also dyno tested and confirmed.
Unfortunately it's hard to fit them all exiting to the right.(But we will try)
And I'm sure someone out there have fitted them allready.

CS-pipes aren't bad, by no means, but there's more potential in these motors!
And if you have a good set of CS, only 10-15hp up to SLP.

No surprise on this one,Crankshop is famous for this on the 1200 pipes may have to change header length to get your rpm.Measure pipe length and I bet thats your issue.
