Died?

So..... Did this thread die now, with all the new iron showing up?

Boosted sleds taking over with both 2 and 4 strokes getting hair-driers?

RS

Well lets not forget this great thread. My build is soon ready, just need one powerjet and then do some clutching and fine tuning. Got it started the first time a while ago. Pipes are a bit too loud but hey, what can you do :D

Too bad its just raining in here, no snow at the time.

Heres some pics. Built to be ridden, so no excessive shine on it.

Hei RS, there is still some of us around:beer;, most hills here in Norway is to short for turbos....so i still have big fun "out of the hole" with my w/c motors....they also give the turbos a hard time on the dragstrip no and then;)
I have never tryed this motor at high altitude but i am sure this motors perform a ton better here at sea level, hard to fight with a turbo 4-stroke at high altitude with a N/A 2-stroke.
Yes, it seems like they are done with this motors in usa:confused:
I finiched a new 1200 ves motor for my boy yesterday.....and i am waiting parts from usa next week so i can build a new one:) when this motor is done i will probebly buy parts for a new one...LOL

Nice sled!!
1050cc? i see you have Khein carbs.

Thanks, actually its a bit beaten up, atleas should get a new hood for it. Been riding it for couple winters now with a 770 ubr engine.

Nice to see that these engines are used atleast here in europe :)

Yep its a 1050, had some 700 parts laying around so decided to use them. My first wc engine, but propably not the last if it works.

And yes, using the keihin carbs, used them in my 770 twin earlier and had no problems with them, plus i dont like rack carbs :D

My first two w/c where also 1050 with kehin, i had no problem with them
, but they are a bit sensitiv when it comes to needlehight, i had to adjust the needles all the time when the altitude changes to have them work 100%.

I sure hope this thread and the WC motors havent died out. My 1200 should be ready to go in the next couple of weeks. I looked to this thread for a ton of info when looking for a 1200 and now that I have one I will be looking to it for more info as well. Hopefully the regulars will come back with the snow.

Has the rumor of SW becoming a pay site driven some of our good WC users away? I know I have been stockpiling info from this thread for reference just in case I see a major drop in good info on here up to and after the switch over to a pay site.

There will still be a few of these motors around, but for guys who just "need the most HP", there is no competition for a turbo and guys are headed that way. I'm sure the economy is driving some of it too. Unless one has lots of time and fabrication skills, these are relatively expensive projects to undertake and require a long-term commitment to complete. Seeing some of the "unfinished project" parts for sale tends to lead to that conclusion anyway. However, I suspect that once some of the newer IQ chassis sleds get enough years on them that they become inexpensive enough, there will probably be some guys putting these motors into those too. I know I'm thinking that over myself, but I need to get mine out on the snow, get some time to tune on it, figure out if my pipe is good before moving to a different chassis. On a side note, I'm also somewhat concerned over the impending change to a pay site. Amsnow has never been the same since the switch. Even though I can, I hardly even look anymore - its barely worth the time to log on....

woody1050: Yes they are a bit sensitive, but we dont have that big elevation changes here so they do work ok. Got them workingbetter with the powerjets. The 770 was quite wildly ported so I hope that the 1050 is a bit easier. It is trailported though.

RIDECATS. Its a Rev tank and a seat made from a gtx rev front seat. Not that good looking, but works ok. A bit heavy though

I too am finishing up my 1200wc. I know I saw 4 sold last year and the owners move to turbos. Myself I think I will pursue a WC triple TURBO. Then who will be fastest. I hear there is some working well and Gus swears he can make it happen. Money is holding me back. I am going to learn what I can this year tuning then do some nitrous stuff and see where it takes me. I hope the oldtimers chime in soon cause its getting hard to find guys running these at altitude.

I am still alive . I am still big at large in the w/c motors . I just have alot of things going so not a lot of time to reply . I have had turbos and I still to this day wiill not jump ship. One thing for all you guys to remember there is no replacement for displacement. Go big or go home!!!!!

Brad

Those Keihin D-slides are quite friendly on your thumb, feels like its not going to be a problem. I have not tried roundslides, but i can imagine that you need one hell of a thumb with them :D
