Thanks to everybody for this thread. Lots of good info here.

Anyone have the avenger install manual? I dont have the install directions. As far as power mine was hooked up with red to yellow and black to chassis under the brown wire. Thanks for the gearing advice all. And yes I was thinking of going mechanical reverse. I have read where several people have done it with no problems so I figured what the heck.

I have a copy of the manual, pm me your email and I will send it to you. I am hooked to the Yellow/Red I will splice into the Yellow tonight and see if it works.
Thank you!

CS high altitude 800 pipes have a 29mm Inside Diameter STINGER. I like the 3 inch silencer diameter for noise reduction.

CS low alititude 800 pipes have the 32mm ID STINGERS.

I just got off the phone with Crankshop and according to the lady I talked to the low alt pipe have 29mm stingers.

Just thought I would clear this up. Anyone else have info about CS stinger sizes? Did I get the wrong info from CS?

29 is HIGH alt stinger ID!!!

Lower alt more atmospheric pressure you need to get more out (less backpressure)

32mm is gunna allow more flow for lower altitude and higher density air.

I am just passing along what Crankshop told me on the phone today.

I thought the same thing, more air at low alt so you would need a bigger stinger.

Anyone have the name of the pipe guy to talk to there. I talked to a lady and she is the one that told me that 29mm stingers were for low alt. She answered the phone and I asked to talk to someone about pipes and she didnt transfer me to anyone.

They (CS) told me the same thing. That 29mm is low altitude on the new stampings.
When I got my pipes, they had 27mm stingers, they said those were race pipes, so I opened mine to 29.
Would be nice to experiment with bigger stinger, but don't want to mess up the crome.

I have 4 sets of c/s trippel pipes for the 1200, all low altitude and all have ID 29mm.

regulator

Where should I be pulling power from for my Avenger 3? P1 in the setup mode is set to #1 and the RPM is reading 9.33 at idle. If I change P1 through the entire scale 1-20 it reduces the RPM number. It is an 1160 Triple, with 650 Ultra electrics, I have a brown, yellow, and Yellow/Red coming from the stator. I have Brown and Yellow red going to brown on voltage reg. and Yellow to Yellow on VR.
I have the old connector for the Avenger with only Red and Black wires. The manual says to pull from the lighting coil... don't have one.
Thanks,

could the voltage reg be the wrong one? i was having the same problem till the guage no longer turned on when started as well as the led tail light stopped working at the same time?
i traced my wiring, cleaned up extra wire simplified routing. then started the motor and the guage worhed for a few seconds and then quit again? still no tail light.
so i switched the xcr 800 regulator for the 800 twin one. the guage wouldnt do the auto on but would now read very low rpm instead of nothing. after a couple seconds it may have failed as well cause it stopped reading any rpm

what kind of volts should be coming out of it? also what is the best reg to be using? i have heard of cat regs but which one (year size or model)? are they all the same?

I was wondering about voltage regulators as well. Can you use the old Indy 650 regulator with the Ultra SPX ignition? Been collecting parts to start installing my 1200 and was wondering if I need to buy a different regulator.

third

the 650 regs are junk.

I used two cat regulators wired together, works perfect!

i am pretty sure thats the third time youve said that but its kind of an indirect statement for me. what kind of cat regs? what year what model? i found on ebay a 99 zr 440 reg, 2001 zrt 600, and a 98 ext reg? they all look different

I pulled it off the 1160 and put it on the Turbo RX-1 and got the same readings, so my assumption is the Racepak is bad. My next step is to try the Raepak off the RX-1 on my other chassis to conferm the unit is bad.

If it's any help, the Ultra stators are 280W, just like the newer twins (pre CFI) are. I'm using a regulator from an Edge chassis twin.
