Everyone seemed to really like the CS pipes so those were the ones I was going to get next year. Maybe I'll get some SLP's now.

The SLP's are harder to fit though.
SLP do not custom make them for the tripples like crankshop does.
The crankshops are "plug and play"
SLP's are much "fatter" and harder to fit under a stock hood, but it can be done. But it takes alot of cutting and welding.

time

sorry brad claimed the extra. Everyone wanted to sell them as a pair, I knew one guy that is always looking for extras.

i almost had a ev jug off ebay for $50 but i was at work. i have the case and the shaft and a full ultra motor from haydays. slowly plugging along this motor time will tell if i get all the parts cause i am trying not to buy new$$$$

Porting programs are out there for specific pipe designs. SLP matches up well to a stock "TYPE" profile and is very adaptable to some variations. When a change in the porting program, the intended pipe matches up, CS love a porting program that targets high end rev numbers, generally. Jaws historically were known for torque/lower rpm range. Advancements in porting programs for the Jaws pipes are being made. These pipes have been made to rev and still provide large torque numbers.
One nice thing about the CS pipes is that with these motors you have plenty of bottom end torque for the average guy and then a top end "hit" that rocks the hills!

Torque is a real tangible thing that rips things apart, like arms from sockets.
HP is just a calculation, a number, like a fake orgasm.

Going through the CR500 phase right now, Doug Ruth has handed me his first round of exploring pipes design and porting. I have a stock, Pro Circuit, and FMF Gnarly for this bike (oh yea, and a aluminum frame from a 125 Gen3)
clicky

If you guys have ordered CS pipes, Jaws, or SLP, you won't be let down by any of them. Trust me. Clutch for where the motor wants to run. When you start getting tinker fever and ready to move to the next step, give Doug Ruth a call and discuss pipe/porting designs. With a phone call to him you will walk away with better understanding after drinking from the well of years of experience.

Over and out..........

Lynn, you are correct offcourse.

We ran your old non ves Doug Ruth ported cylinders with your old JAWS pipes on the dyno too. But only two of them offcourse. (Easier to keep swapping 2 pipes/cylinders instead of 3.) Made .7 hp less than 03 ves cylinders and SLP pipes. The JAWS had more power in the mid range, just like you said, and it had a broader peak. So it would be easier to clutch.
And they should run a couple of hundred rpm's higher than SLP.

I would post the dynosheets, if only Mr. Krovoll (Woody1050) would send them to me as a correct file-type!:D Hehe

I dont think this guys are intrested in dyno result, but Ruth race ported 800 non ves with Jaws made less power than non ported 800 ves with SLP pipes.
If we will compare one porting/pipes up ageinst another we have to use the dyno, and thats what we doing..........all the time....... with all the cylinders/pipes we can find, with no respect for "big" name, we are more intrested to find the porting who give most power.......not who port them !
We are perhaps not as old as Ruth:D (i have worked with sleds/motors only 23years and still learn:)) we like to verify engine work the right way, not just "think and feel"
As 4Z said....you will be happy with all pipes just find peak power and clutch for that rpm.
I run C/S on all my 1200 exept one and are verry happy with them, but slp pipes give most power on this motors so i have to try them;)

non ported

woody, what kind of power are you making on non ported ves cylinders with crank shops? are you guys pluging the decompression holes or leaving them open?
thanks
adam

About 10hp lower than slp pipes and they put out about 150-153hp 8200-8300rpm,verry little porting and they give you 160hp, C/S have a bit higher peak.(my result tell the same as C/S say.....about 10hp up with there pipes)

If we take a std 800 ves this has 133hp+ C/S pipes +10hp and some ordirnary porting +10hp + v-force and a bit higher comp +5hp we have 79hp pr cylinder this will give us 237hp 8400-8500rpm on a tripple..........this is real world power for the trail 1200 ves with mikunicarbs.

More porting, big lectron, more timing, high comp, racefuel +++ then you can find another 25-30hp.
I dont plug the hole.

Have you actually dyno'd this scenario and gotten 235-240hp on the tripple???

Hello Mattymac, yes many times:)
I also have 1200 with alot more.
But for ordenery trail this scenario is verry reliable, and when the 800 crank move in to a w/c case the crank problem is history.
I have used this motors the last 7-8 years with no problems, no crank/piston failure at all.

We here built probably one of the first WC 1050's around in 97. Most people barely had their xc 700's and we had a 1050 runnin around, and it still is going strong to this very day!!!!!

I just always thought that if you have an 800 twin making 158 hp and then just put a 3rd identical cyl on it, it that it would make 237hp since your getting 3 firings per 360 deg (every 120) of crank rotation instead of every 180 deg. Basically your getting more help to overcome less dead rotational energy. Just a thought though!

LYNN WHATS THE STORY WITH THE TURBO WATERCRAFT???

poor mans mod sled

when i click on poor mans mod it says i can use an xcr ultra or 650 ignition does that mean 700 xcr or 800. i thought someone told me that if i were to find an xcr 800 it could be reprogrammed for 10 more horse. or was he talking about the 700 xcr?

The page I assume you're talking about is one I put together one night after doing a lot of reading and wanted to keep most of my ideas together.

And from what I understand these motor will work with the older 650 style ignition but it id not programmable. If you use the XCR ignition you can get it reprogrammed.

I wish I had the money and time to get started on this thing.

Still waiting to see one of these monsters turboed. I thought about putting EFI on mine and trying a turbo but didnt want to waste riding time working on it. From what I understand carbs are temperamental and not worth the time IMO.

Trust me greg, turbo carb sleds arent bad and in some cases work better and have advantages over EFI! You just have to have the right set of carbs and they must be setup correctly.

I wanna know what one of these things can do when un-naturally asperated!!

Turbo/carbs

I've got the stock rack carbs on my 800 turbo (00' 800 RMK) and its not temperamental at all. Its the most user friendly mod sled I've ever owned.

Mikuni Rack

Does anyone have a stock 40mm Mikuni rack made up for the WC laying around for sale? I have an 01' 800 twin rack on the shelf, just considering buying another pair to piece together unless someone has a third carb or a rack all ready made. I want to try them for trail and an airbox so that nitrous or turbo would be possible.
Bored carbs are fine as this is a ported 1200 w/ CS's.
Thanks,
Jim

I just found myself an xcr700 stator and flywheel. Did I see somewhere that the hubs for the 1050/1200 xcr flywheels are being discontinued? I really hope not I am looking to build a big drag race motor and would like the lighter smaller flywheel on this beast. I guess I could retaper it but I hear that the hub is a much better set up. If Anyone knows how to rerivet a new hub in place I could probably make my own. Keep me posted.
