The stock watercraft heads are individual heads per cylinder. Having a one piece head ties everything together making it more rigid. Brads heads are the only way to go IMO, attractive anodized finish and changable domes. They accept stock 800 thermostat and housing.

couldn't a guy use the stock watercraft heads and make an aluminum plate to bolt on to connect all 3 together?

I used the stock watercraft covers and recut the stock domes. I had no issues. Brads head makes it easier to route the hoses.

Using PWC heads/covers

You could use PWC heads if you're using the older non-VES cylinders. With VES cylinders, you're lacking some of the machined bosses on the cylinders necessary to bolt the water covers on.

Air cleaners for the 1200

Which air cleaners have been working the best in the dry powder on these things. I just think it would be cool to buy the right ones the first time. Im running ported non ves 800 cylinders.

I ran the kickass filters and found them to be restrictive. I took them off and jetted up a bit. Airbox would be best but if you cant fit it try some wire frames to support some outwears.

My 44mm lectrons are going up for grabs now, I'd like to sell them to a watercraft guy as the flanges will be no good to me any more either...

wc parts numbers

im relly thinking about building one of these. can anyone share the part numbers of the 1200 crankcase, the 800 cylinders, im going to piece one together and would really like to know what parts are proven to work.

i have looked parts up but am not sure if they will work.
1999 pol slx 1200 crankcase #2201562
2002 pol 800 xc sp ev cylinder #3021339
2001 pol 800 xc sp non ev cylinder #3021064

then would i use any year 800 cranks?

I picked up 4 slightly used 800 ves cylinders for cheap by posting in the swapmeet and on hcs. I also picked up all my ignition, water pump, recoil parts from hcs for cheap. If you want all new then you better start saving now. I wouldn't go cheap with the cases or crank though, talk to brad about those.

Hey, did we ever get anywhere with the turbo WC setup last year??? I know there was one in washington and I thought a T1050 somewhere else, any updates??? I thought this thread was gunna have some underhood pix?

so are these the part numbers i would need? i get a 56% discount on pol parts so new isnt a big deal but i need to know if these parts are what i need.

You can use ALL type of ves/non ves 800 cyl, ves will give you some more hp.
And if you looking for best performance you should use SLP pipes, they put out about 10hp more than the others on a 800 twin (15hp on a tripple)
You will get about 230hp 8200rpm unported with SLP pipes on mild timing...............more timing/porting/big carbs/high comp you can stretch your arms with 260hp+
All custom parts can Brad help you with.

So are you saying the SLP's pipes are better than Crankshop's pipes?

Yes, that's what he is saying!! I was at Woody1050s today testing pipes on the dyno.
Testing SLP, JAWS and Crankshop's to find out witch is better.
Crankshop and JAWS were both down about 10hp compared to SLP! Non-biased and backed up runs.
Mind you this was on the 800, so the difference would be bigger on the 1200! About 15, as Woody said.

I will post a more comprehensive report once I get all the dynotests in the correct file-type.

And to think, I just ordered Crankshops for my 1200! DAMN.
