I used locating punches with my ubr and brads plate. I mocked up the motor plate and motor to get the c-c and shimming correct. I screwed the punches into the cases. I got the motor all lined up where I liked it on the plate then hit the top with a piece of wood and hammer. The punches left their marks and then I drilled.

I used the dykem machinist dye. Get your motor sitting right then spray dykem around the mounting bosses and use compressed air to blow the excess away. When you lift the motor off the plate you should have a perfect imprint of where the holes need to be. Drill in a drillpress and your set.

this is how we do it.

X2 here. Did 4 of them this way.
The other way works well too from what I have seen.

Thanks for help. I'll probably use the dye method but I'll look for some locating punches.

ok guys I know a few of you ran the bottle, just wondering which setup and what horse shot did you throw at it, also was it worth it.

has anyone installed rack carbs in the IQ chassis?

i pulled off the old 44 lectrons today and just went to mock up the 40mm rack mikuni's. well, i had to remove the tps just to get them to sit right and the top of the air vent is hitting the caliper housing, now i think i can cut out the coolant hose through the caliper and gain just enough but man is it fricking thight, basically touching on both sides. what did some of you do for the rack carb install?

mounted the engine with the rack on so i knew that it would fit. its tight but i have a little room on that vent hose.

well, i am running in michigan 500-1500 ft. the lectron is a great carb but i do a lot of high speed stuff. we will typically run 70-100+ all day. the lectron has a bad lean spot around 6500-74 or so. i am just looking for more consistency for trail riding. i am going to run a set of 48 lectrons for racing....

I am doing the same thing as MBR46, for our racers. Here in MI we do an easy 200 mile day, with 48 or 44 lectrons at 4-5 mpg you do the math. We are both going to rack carbs for the trails and then the 48 lectrons for racing. Anyone put a set of the racks in a racer?

On my racks the vent by the caliper mount is tight! I ended up grinding a little room off the caliper mount to make getting them in and out easier.

Hey, you can cut out the coolant hose through the caliper, and if you use intake manifoil from the polaris 900 twin (you will gain more room behind the carbs with this intake and also a better angle) you will have a perfekt fit in the racer with Brads motorplate.
Hope this will help you;)

woody, will that intake boot fit the big watercraft intakes? are they a rubber boot? do you have any pics?
