Is anyone riding at 10000 plus feet and if so would you share your setup. Im starting with stock 40mm mikunis and stock non ves cylinders. After it is a rolling project I will go from there. Just wanting to get close for the heat cycles and break in.

heres my new ride guys. it was frikin expensive...

looks nice, trader. Just kidding.;) Ive been told you can wear white gloves with those things and never get them dirty.

W/C vs. turbo??

See some of you guys leave the W/C in favour of new iron, presumably turbo?

I hear power is addictive and I'm with that, but what if I "just" want 260Hp reliable, what will be the difference in riding experience/performance between a 260Hp W/C Edge/IQR and a T-Apex?

The hundy is much lighter and handles better. The Tapex does very well in the pow. The harder the snow, the tougher they get. The two stroke is snappier and quicker in the trees. I would take a Tapex in the big hills without many trees.

Well I have put quite a few miles on the turbo this year but not near as much as my 1200! if that tells you anything! both full mod chassis built with the best of everything, at fairview this year is the first time my turbo beat my 1200 (at 10K feet) but where we ride 4500-7K my 12 eats my 900 turbo at 9lbs all day long plus the bottom end "right now" power of the big tripple is 100 times funner than any turbo ive ridden, I dont care what people say about "no lag" because it comes with the clutching and theres no way around it.

I did ride a bone stock nytro with a BD turbo runnin 14lbs no head shim that was fun but 110+++ octane all day long, pump gas with my 1200 and only put 2 belts on it and I built it from the ground up no messing with it! PULL THE ROPE AND GO, PUMP GAS TORQUE!!!!!!!!!!

changes

now that i have a few rides on the tapex, I can say I like it... I was freaking out a bit there at 1st, feeling some regret about selling the 1200. My main reason for buying the apex, it the way it just works in the deep stuff. I dont i dont like changing jet for altitude, or air temps. the 1200 suffers from altitude, and few 20-30 degrees. If could have a 1200 that ran as hard on the mountain as it did at the truck, I would have never gotten rid of it. I did get to ride the apex on the spring snow yesterday and it works great there too. My one dislike with the apex is the torque or lack of without boost. The 1200 is unbeatable in the trees, for instant torque. the apex has incredible throttle responce in the trees, but there is some lag. I had it turned up to 15lbs yesterday, it is fast.. raced daryns 1200 and beat him good on the 1st time and the second time he was only 5-6 sled behind me. I still had him out of the hole both times. It sure has been a real big learning curve, purelogic box setting, clutching, which set up works.

What yort still able to learn stuff at your age?;)

My 1200 is great but has a real problem with taking out the front mounts (old style heavy durometer) i will be going to the bolt through halves next.

LIES!!!!!!!!:D

i think my mag housing was broke when we raced cuzz it was popin and spittin at the take off.........:p

it is a cool sled though.......very fun to pull wheelis on!!

i borke the mag off again. that only lasted 1 ride......so i have to check to see if its hitting the bulkhead, something aint right now...

Did you put the extra bolts in it or roll pin it? That sucks, 1 ride. Mines still holding in there good.

i cut the housing out so i could use bolts rather than the hex heads but i didnt add any more or put a pin in it. the 2 on the bottom are long. i drilled em out so i could put a long bolt in there. got to wait another day for the snow to melt out of it....lol...then i'll take it apart and see why it broke again so easy.

I have to say i put the bigger coils on for yesterday and i think it ran a little harder. not sure if it was from not riding it in 3 weeks or not but it did seem to have a little more......had a blast on it, glad it didnt break till the end of the day.

I doubt very seriously that there are very many of these 1200s running 260 hp. i think the only way your going to see that is if you have every little thing done and tuned right. though i have no real info i bet most are running in the 225-230 range.

I was sure runnin with alot of those "250hp turbos" at 10K feet at fairview:D

Yeah I know its all about torque but at 10K feet thost turbos have quite the advantage!

Porting and compression someone could attain the 260-270 hp mark. I will get mine ported this summer (Brad twisted my arm:D) and should be around 250 hp on pump gas. And if a guy needs more there is always nitrous:D.

I thought lynns was really up there in power with all that special ruth porting, jaws pipes, and all that compression and special TLC! oh yeah dont forget the squirt!
