Jim's sled is a masterpiece. He has done a super job on this sled. The motor is one of the O.G. DIY 1200's. I cannot say enough good things about this work and results. Whom ever gets this motor has one of the best running 1200's out there, period.

As with every single project I have done in my entire life the deal comes right after I get tired of waiting. Gonna be fine though. How loud are those side exit pipes?

snowjunky,

I have reworked those silencers since those pics, I have them routed out of the shock tower, pointed forwards, towards the shock and down to eliminate any powder bogging/sufficating.

I think the trick with the quiet tripple, is new packing every 10 rides, its pretty much gone after 10 rides.

Yeah get a few rides on it and its like someone pulled a cork.
This may sound stupid but has anyone tried using a can for a silencer?

snowstar,
I had thought alot about that, I even considered building one that had rivets or screws that was very simple to repack. I wanted it to dump out of the bottum and out of the shock tower. I had a hard time with the amount of materials/weight to make it fit properly, they just added up, more than I wanted.

well, i will give brad a plug for his motors. i won the tree tops hill cross this weekend, open mod sat and sun. and king of the hill on sun. it was a 660' with 3 jumps up a ski hill. the motor was an animal and won by a good margin. beat up a yammi turbo pretty bad in the semi's, it really did not have the time to spool up since you had to get out of it in the air. the thing (1200) flew to half way to the next jump. anyway, cant say enough about the motor.....

here ya go fellers! A short video my buddy made on a little outting the other weekend to give some perspective on how these things pull!

My 1200 is only shown draggin on a small lake, WET HEAVY spring snow, other sleds are a 1000 speedwerx big bore with twins, 900 with cpi twins, M7 BMP motor and slp twins (was tuned rich since it was its first out after a deto burn down), and the apex mtn, notice how the bone stock apex mtn runs right with the others! Hard to tell whos who from the vid (other than me!). All sleds run good for what they are, a nice spring day of playin around! The first minute or 2 is the draggin, the rest is when my other buddy on the M7 gets himself in a tight spot, its worth watchin till the end! Enjoy!!

Nice vid matty. Sounds like you got it tuned up pretty good. Cant wait to run ya:D I might be to Fairview Friday if not for sure Saturday. Should be some awesome weather.

Anyone ever tried a 96 xcr sp ignition on a 1200? Or are all the XCR ignition systems the same?

the 600 xcr is the same as the ultra the only differeance is the timing marks on the flywheel are different so on our appliction it doesnt matter

Brad

Nice little vid. Destruction, climbing racing, cussing..........my kind of clip!!

What secondary are you running?

any one having problems with their recoil pullies?? i broke two last week. granted they were used parts when i got them (off of Ultras) but they looked good, no signs of stress in the plastic. they both broke in the same place. the boss that holds the pin that the recoil dog pivots on. i was thinking an aluminum pulley would solve the problem, any one make one?? and yes i take the slack the out of the rope before yanking, just incase anyone was wondering. thanks, Brian.
