Woody1050 (Mr. Krovoll) used this set-up on his 2001 RMK 1200ves last summer on the grass-drags:

Pri: Polaris P-85 with 78 gram and pol black/green(120-340)
sec: Polaris button with SLP 50/40 and pol blue/orange(56/90)
Gear: 23-40 and 9 tooth drivers.
Track was a 159" with 250 picks.
He runs pro-stock, so sled and driver was about 750 lbs

This motor was built and ported by himself.
Stock RMK chassie and fully trailable with 12.5 compression!!
Bored stock 800 carbs.
Runs a steady 8400rpm with this setup.

With this setup he did 103.8 MPH in 500'
Altitude was sealevel and temp was 50 degrees.

Yet to test on snow.

SWEET! Thanks for the input in "realiability"!! Good to know there isnt an issue with these at all.--mattymac-- that sled you gots there looks awesome for only $6500! Nice work! Looks like im gonna be in the need for some parts pretty soon here. :) Ohh I cant wait! It looks like this is gonna be a fun project, im positive im gonna be asking many many questions along the way! So be prepared! Thanks again all!!!

If your looking for cases ebay is your friend, but then you have to send it in to get machined. Or just buy one from 1200psi already machined out along with a crank.

Yep. I bought mine off of ebay, took it to Brad for machine work. Save yourself extra shipping and get one from him.

How much could a 1050 be made for and how much power do they make? To be quite honest a 1200 is going to have way too much power for me and I'd end up hurting myself. I have thought about turning mine into a 910 but the ever present crank issues keeps me away. The 1050 triple sounds much more up my alley. A reliable 180 HP is enough for me. Maybe I should just get myself an XCR 800 motor and mod that a little bit? But then I might end up wishing I did the 1050 after getting everything for the 800 triple.

just do the 1200 doesnt cost any more you can never have enoght power even if you build the 1200 just detune it a little then when you grow some balls you will have something to have fun with. do it you wont regret it

I was thinking of going the xcr with a 1000 kit, is a 1050 watercraft motor better? I already have a spare set of 700 ves jugs and a crank, but I found a wrecked xcr from a friend. I could use a little advise about which one to build? Also does anybady make a set of pipes that are kind of quiet for the wc motor? Thanks for the help

the torque of the watercraft compared to the xcr isnt even close!

cranks, via ninjaplumber, I think you can figure out which ones the xcr and which ones the WC

as for noise, the 3 inch silencers that you can get from CS arent that loud IMO, but some say over time the packing goes away and they get loud.

reliability = watercraft though the xcr is a great platform as well.

Is the Sled as fast w/ the P-85 as the HRP ? THe HRP is larger Diameter so I would think you could have a higher gear

There isn't a huge difference in building a 1050 vs. a 1200, but parts availability (especially 800VES jugs) can be something of an issue if you're trying to do things on a budget. One other advantage to the 1050 is that less machining is needed on the case. I'm opting for the 1050 for those reasons myself. In addition, some of my riding is near sea level and I'm quite convinced a 1200 at sea level would result in bodily injury.

Shortstop you've been on the fence for a while on this motor, just do it. If you get a chance to ride one you will be hooked.:D

72g weights in the p85 and this sled is rockin again. I think this clutch pulls better on the top end than the HRP did. my sled feels like a new machine now. And Jims is running from me.......he has that thing DIALED!!

I think i need a little more track now.

No Spark!

been working on this 2 months since i ordered engine plate from Brad.
changed stingers from 30mm to 33mm for sea level, ran engine had no lighting
coil output, love my heated grips so put another stator in and now i should have lights, but now no spark:confused:any ideas what happened? can the cdi be tested? by the way the ignition is xcr 800 programed for slp pipes.
the flywheel has been rekeyed and the keyway notched, the keyway fell out
of the crank and i didn't notice whitch way it's suppose to be the cut off ,
towards the back or the front of the sled, for now it's towards the back?
keep reading all the good things about w/c 1200,really want to go for a ride
on my 2003 1200 vertical escape 159 2.25:beer;:beer;

Sounds like he is making things happen with that set up. Wouldn't work well in the steep and deep but I can see how it would make it a rocket ship on the strip!!!! Sweet!!

Speaking of rockeships Lynn, we took the sled out last weekend for the first time this year. We took an educated guess at the gearing and clutching for the 1000' radar run. We weren't 100% but still shattered their club record. The closest to use was 118mph. We had to let off before the end because the shut down was way to short. We hit 129mph. I know we could be faster.
Look at the trees in the background. They come up way to fast.
