We have an ethanol plant 16 miles from my house, about 4 miles from our closest acreage to it. My Dads friend is manager.
It’s closed, never got fully operational.
Was built to contract with us and neighbors.
We never had water or acreage to satisfy its demands and would take a loss to sell corn or straw at their contract offerings.
Genius idea.
To run it our options were cut spud acres, which would close our packing shed, or cut hay acres, which would close local dairies.
Let’s just grow food and drill oil.
