Cat and Doo guys riding Poo this season...

Like to see more poo on the snow, hope everyone enjoys the pro as much as I have, and will this season. IMO it must be Time for polaris to be on top for awhile. Just like it was for skidoo with th xp. I didnt switch, Ive been polaris for as long as Ive been in the sport.

Non biased

Started sledding on 71 elan as a kid, since then, 84 phazer, 90 500 indysks,
93 750 storm, 99 700rmk 770 union bay twin crankshops, 2004 rev, 2008 revxp 174 860 twin jaws, runs well.
2008 stock 163xp, 2011 pro rmk 174*3 track.

After all these sleds IMO Yamaha phazer was to sledding as Pro is today, the 2004 rev IMO was also a breakthrough.

At 50, the pro with the big track is just very easy to ride and sidehills better than any sled I have had. It is even better with the big track.
Picking up another Pro to add to the toyroom.

I would like to try head on pro.

the key to handling the pro (or even the iq) compared to the ski-doo, especially the xp - stop over riding the sled. the doo are great sleds but the polaris has taken substantially less rider input for years. i have spent a decent amount of time on different doos and can make them do what i want but have never like how they handle. back to topic

They have the chassis working awsome now just put a decent engine in and polaris would basicly sweep the entire mountian segmant off its feet only people that wouldnt be on it would be the brand loyal guys even they would be feeling left out. Its not like the combustion engine has just come out polaris charge and extra $1000 per sled if thats what it takes to give us an engine that competes with the others. If the pro is beatin on the other brands with less hp imagine what the sled would be like with the extra HP.

since this seems to continue to come up in a number of threads, my question is, how long is everyone going to beat on the polaris engines? and why is it still going on with the pro motor when there have been so few failures? or is this just based off of the "low" hp reported by dynotech that was later revised up? this is in no way an attempt to excuse polaris's real motor issues with the cfi-4 800 or a post by a color blind loyalist but rather a question as to why the continual criticism of the pro without the justification?

It'll go on as long as people own something other than what the other guy has... People will always find something to justify their own sled... Polaris and the 800 motor, cat with their "heavy" new chassis, doo and their handling or "weak" chassis, and yami with their weight. Just the way things are I guess.. Gets old doesn't it... In one ear and out the other. Just smile and nod as our under powered unreliable Pros out climb and do things others the others can't do :face-icon-small-coo take it with a grain of salt I guess

i'd rather ride my underpowered pro over any other factory sled out there;) mine had injector problems, took a couple of weeks to get new ones. sled wouldn't rev over 7200 rpm. still had my highly modded M sitting in the shop, and thats where it sat. rode the pro, even with it under reving you couldn't pay me to get off it. its just that good...

Yeah, The pro is great handling sled but I always thought my IQ RMK's were really easy to ride. Just push hard with you leg on the side you want to carve on. Effortless. Can't wait to get on my new Pro.

yeah i "discussed" this often with all of my ski-doo buddies. even on the rev chassis. some could never ride my sled very well as they said it was too "tippy". i always told them to stop riding it like a doo, quite putting so much input into the sled. they said, no it is too tippy because obviously the rev and xp chassis were the best every built  but running down a trail i always felt the polaris was just as stable if not smoother, although it did tend to push through the corners more. but now after the success of the pro, it seems, you are starting to hear a lot more people complain about the handling of the doo, especially the xp. when it comes down too it we are all very lucky because there isn't a bad sled made today, even the yamahas are really nice, very well built sleds.

Pro?

I have been riding Doo’s for the last few years and have absolute no brand loyalty. I could never figure out why some people say Doo's are hard to side hill. I ride with 1 to 10 guys and most are etec 800 Doo’s. We swap sled a lot and I have found in the trees I would rather ride the new Etec it's easier to handle in the trees than the Pro is. Everyone remarks on the amount of steering effort it take to turn and no one likes straight up and down steering post on the Pro. The Pro is a great sled but I’m not going to jump on the band wagon and say they are a trend setter. Those people must have been riding old Polaris or riding Cat or Yamaha. (no offence meant) Hope it Snows soon I need to go riding. Going to do a few changes and hope things improve. I could be looking of sliding my leg off the Pro and putting it over an Etec if it doesn't improve, that is if someone wanted to trade.

After 2 years on a sno pro m8 with all the goodies I decided to switch to the pro. I'm tired of being out climbed and the cat shop here doesn't exactly have the most knowledgeable staff in town. The guys at Kurts are awesome and I know i'll get taken care of whenever I need anything at all. I can't wait to see what the new pro can do!! PRAY FOR SNOW. . . then pray for more snow.

There may have been somtehing too it when you look at how Ski-doo really narrowed them up for 2011 to get better sidehilling and handling in the mountains. I really think people really learn to ride what they ride and everything else they are not as comfortable on at first.

Thought I would ride my M7 till it was completely worn out cuz I liked it so much. Made the mistake of riding a pro at the end of last season and discovered it could do everything the M7 could just a little bit better, and some things that the M7 couldn't do at all. Case in point, got a Pro sitting in the garage.

I did ride my M7 till it was completely worn out. ha. I've always been a cat guy, till I rode a pro last spring. Now, theres a pro sitting in the garage waiting for snow. Some people say those pros have mechanical problems, but it cant be worse than my M7 was. Buy a pro with a 4 year warrenty, or for $550 get the 4 year extended warrenty.

I had a M7, that i put 6,000 miles on, rode the pro for 15 minutes, and felt more confortable on it. But, for the most part I think you are right. I just can't wait to get a few miles on my new pro, and see how confortable it feels then.

IMO - I will admit that ski doo has gotten used to being on top, and has been some what lazy. Thinking that the xp/etec would carry them was good on paper but it seems the poo caught them off guard. Ski doo will run the xp one more year and then watch out - that simple.E-tech on a new chassis will rock the snow world.

Revolutionary. Any manufacturer can do it it just took Ski-doo until 03 to change the game. Before that Polaris owned it. However, Polaris sure did struggle after the 90's. I would say they hit a homerun with the Pro and it is now the new standard.
