Cat and Doo guys riding Poo this season...

You are getting a reaction, because the original posting asked, who switched and why? It didn’t seem to me that he was asking why you didn’t.
If you want to express those thoughts, maybe you should start a thread that asks why didn’t you switch... Just a thought.

I understand where you are coming from, but I believe a post stating why I didn't switch would have primarily gotten responses from people who didn't give the sled a chance, or ones that are stuck to a brand. People such as yourself that could have real input as far as likes and dislikes, would, in my opinion, not give it much time or state that it should be moved to the Doo or Cat section.

The original also asked how you were liking it so far. I probably should have posted a question to riders who made the switch and were possibly dissappointed, and then gave my experience. I also plan on switching as often as I can this year. The Pro turbo will be updated. I will riding w/ a new 800 cat w/ a turbo, and hopefully the new 1100 w/ the turbo. We are going to have an Etec turbo in the bunch also.

Is it just me or is there alot of Cat and Doo guys(and ladies) slinging a leg over a Poo for this season?...welcome guys...what made you change and how are you liking it so far?

Actually this thread COULD be taken to mean which Cat and Doo guys are going to give the Poo a test (even though they don't buy)...

Could mean anything really.

And who really cares.

Poo threads are not exclusive to Poo owners. Don't be so touchy.

Wow, I was just pointing out that I did not make the switch and that it was not out in the future. And yes I realize the original thread was started to welcome those who jumped, but are people really offended if a current Skidoo rider posts? People that made the switch most likely have posted before as Cat and Doo riders and were looking for information and feedback. I admitted that I did not have a ton of time on the Pro, and as far its power, the one I was riding had poorly setup turbo on it and was not impressive. I stated that it could have been part of the reason I was not wowed w/ the handling. Ever ridden a turbo Yamaha? It's surprising how much power adds to the fun factor and the percieved handling of a machine. Other Pro's I've ridden w/, but not had seat time on, seemed to work extremley well. They come on top of the snow better than any other sled I've been around and are the reason I read these type of threads. It's good to hear the people that made the switch are happy.
SW...glad you tryed it...and kept an open mind even after it didnt impress you..hope you give it more trys in the future,....love to hear all comments..good or bad..and yes...not a slouch out there of the current mnt sleds..they are all good...

Made the Switch last season, after 30 years of nothing but Doos, Was kinda hard to walk into a Polaris dealer and order up a Brand new Sled, Yet a Brand of sled I have Never owned, but it was well worth it, I love my Pro, its an amazing sled, felt it has made me a better rider. Can't wait to throw a leg over it again this season.:face-icon-small-ton

I rode an 05 REV. Loved it for the first 2500mi. Then the engine crapped out. Pistons, Flaking rings, Rod bearings, ECT. Three tear downs later, I sold it.

Heard some good things about the PRO. Sat on one in the show room. Felt like a REV, only narrower. (Good thing) Bought it that day.

Never even saw one in action or rode one. I did ride a couple of Dragons two years ago. Didn't like that at all. Hope the pro is what every one is saying about it.

Had Summit Etecs last year. Loved them. Got another for this year, BUT I also got a Pro after riding them at a Dan Adams clinic. I don't think they are so night and day better or worse. They are different. The ETEC has a better engine and suspension for most riding conditions. The Pro is better in really deep snow or tight trees. I will be able to make a better comparison this year as we will have them out on the same day so same terrain and conditions. My dilemma is I want to ride both stock side by side and I can't seem to stop upgrading them. Is there something like AA for snowmobiling?:face-icon-small-win

Well I am a Doo, Cat, Yammy guy with two of the three still in the garage.
I like the Pro chassis but after hearing more issues with rod bearings in this engine I am starting to question my decision.....
But what the he!!, I hope it holds together well and she likes ALOT of boost!

what rod bearing issues? hadn't heard of any. thought i was keep up with things for the most part. i sure haven't heard of any up here?

First it was always Yamaha's had alot to do with my dealer and I just loved my old Phazer!! Then I switched to Doo for the last 15years, just got sick of driving 35 miles and them not having our parts in and when I tryed to trade at snowcheck time they didnt want to deal at all:face-icon-small-con and acted like my PTeck wasnt worth anything anymore?? Well right in town now the Cat dealer took over Poo last year and bugged me big time about the Poo's, he has been a long time friend and I have bought alot of bikes from him so it was a no brainer:becky: No more driving 35 miles, now intown and he beat the Doo price buy $1500.00 It just made it all the better, so with help from All you guys here I think its going to be a great year!!! Now I just need to find a good job closer to the mountains so I dont have to drive so far to play:faint:

Been riding Doo since 2003 but took the Doo and Poo out last season side by side for the day. After that I decided to make a change. The Polaris just side hills much easier and gets up on the snow really well:devil:

Went from a M series to a Xp, been on the XP for the last few years. Rode my buddies 20011 PRO last year a few times, sold my sled last April and snowchecked a new Polaris. Seems easier to ride and can't beat a 4 year warranty.

7 cats in 7yrs...ride an '11 M8 for work....

had the chance to pickup a leftover Assault in April last year....after 600mi in 4 weeks most of which was on late spring snow, I was blown away..SOLD

At the end of the day you didnt want to put it on the trailer, you still had energy left, unlike fighting a chasis that requires more work. Sidehilling is one-handed, downhilll U-turns are now possible in almost all snow conditions.

End of the year, my new backup Cat had 97 miles on it, the pro had 600 and it wasn't purchased till April.

If it works, and its available, thats what I'll be riding....this year its the poo.

with all the issues with 2 stroke motors that 4 year warranty is priceless. alot better than what doo offers.

Its not really that priceless because they dont pay for your wasted fuel, hotel, food, rideing buddys fun and not only that but what the long and forgotton dragon 800 guys are finding out now that there warranty is up it comes out of there own pocket and even when they rebuild it, its still a ticking time bomb.

Hopefully there is better luck with the new 800 as i hope to have one this year.

After years riding Poos, I also bought an Etec in Feb, but my opinion is different than yours. The motor is awesome, but I think that the stock Doo suspension was terrible. I kept the stock suspension on my Pro. I also think that they feel totally different, to the point that I can't ride both and switch back and forth, sold the Doo and just picked up my '12 today!

Hate the PRO

I am a doo guy, rode a demo pro from my local dealer this spring, absolutely hated it, hated the way it handled, hated the way it side hilled, hated the way it carved in the powder, hated the way it went down the trail, just plain hated the way it felt!!! I took my mod XP with me and had a buddy with me so we could switch back n forth comparing the pro (stock) to my XP, what I really hated was the pro out climbed, out dragged, out manuevered, flat out beat my XP no matter if I or my buddy was on my XP, as fair as a comparison as I could come up with. I went home that day scratched my head and ordered a PRO the next day, I still hate the PRO but I'll learn to LOVE it, havn't got it yet but I know it's gonna kicka$$, just need to learn how to ride it, totally different feeling than the XP. P.S.--I know bout 3 other guys did the same thing with same results. GO PRO!!!
