The word is they close after easter weekend every year. At least the past few i was told... Apparently "link line" is the place to go to bust your stuff up? lol

Link line is the upper chair on Granite that runs straight up the side of the last bowl (in case no one knew). It is steep, has a ton of rocks and little cliffs and is in a shadow all the time so on a nice April morning, or even into the early afternoon, it would be hard as cement. Oh did I mention the sets of ski lift towers as well? :) I've skied down it, but never gone the other way. If you didn't make it, you wouldn't just "bust stuff up", it would be sled suicide....and the chances of not making it are very high. If you know someone that has done it, I'd love to see video of that! But I don't think anyone has ever done it. there are too many off camber lines, trees, lips and ledges.

The boys and I (D7,D8,XRS,Edge) are headin up from Club Side Sat. around 10 or so for our 2nd trip there. If we look lost, point us the right direction. Hoping to do some boondockin and stay off the dangerous stuff if its still sliding.

Hope to see some of ya up there. EW

Coxy, are you ridin the beast yet? Beast riding you....lol

So I heard Meteor is back on for this Sunday? Mar 9. Really hoping to get up there, thought I had the bugs worked out of my sled but it started acting up again in the afternoon on Sunday after a full day of running great. Should have stuck with a Cat! :D

You guys got any new snow yet up top? 2 weeks and counting til I'm coming home, hope to have something fresh or at least some nice spring riding while I'm home. How's the weather? Has there been much rain?

Good movie clip! I can’t wait were all heading home to the kootenay’s for the long weekend. The boy’s are out picking up 2 new Cat 1000`s today. I guess that ride in Revy a few weeks back did them in on the Crossfire 700’s.
Not sure where we will be riding on the weekend anyone been up Marble lately and how was Ladybird seen some pic`s of the area from Crazy, looks like a sweet spot.
Well have a good ride.

Nope, everybody's out riding! :D

hey kootenaycat, I know that there was an agreement reached with Big Red Cats regarding joint use area near on the Paulson/Nancy Greene area, can you tell me more about what area? We are looking to ride up Bugle and Tridon creek areas, I know that they were using Tridon in the past, don't want to ride where we aren't supposed to or step on anyone's toes (or skis:)). I know that you guys worked hard to reach an agreement with them. Can you let me know some details of the agreement that was reached? If anyone else knows please post.

Thanks.

When the snow is bad in Lynx is downright nasty, way to long, steep and bumpy. Last year though, conditions were ideal and myself and a few other guys climbed it one sunny day in April. Snow was pretty soft, and not too tracked out. Its a long pull but is doable with the right conditions. Theres definitely other guys around that have done it. Two years ago there were a couple sleds that came apart on the way down, its a make it or break it hill for sure! I can't wait til the hill closes again, Infact a couple of us rode up granite late last night for my birthday.

I'm not sure what the exact agreement was that was reached with big red cats but we can still ride on their terrain. There are a couple places to watch out for such as the neptune ridge road where you need to get in contact with one of the BRC guys running around on sleds. They will check for you if there is a cat going up or down to prevent incidents on the steep hills. Signs are posted in places where you need to do this.

I rode last weekend up by Nakusp and it was incredible snow, anybody going riding this weekend?

They must have cleared more trees off Lynx line to ride it. How I remember it 10 yrs ago it had too many trees to climb. Mind you, that whole mountain has probably changed since I was last there.......Thanks for the info on BRC. and maybe to your question of riding this weekend... coming back Friday, not sure when we are going riding, will be home all week so...gonna be more dependant on the weather. Forecast is off and on for the next few days, probably will be a "wake up and see" thing, if its raining this weekend (as per the forecast) I'll bail until it gets sunny and go Monday/Tues. The joys of being on holidays....:) PM me your # and I can give you a call on Friday once we're home.

There was supposed to be a large sign at each of the 2 main entrances, Triton and Neptune (I think?). The sign should have all the info along with a map and phone numbers. The agreement we reached was to allow snowmobilers to use the cat trails, just watch for the signs at various spots. You're supposed to phone the number there and make arrangements for a cat operator to meet you to make sure it's safe to pass through. The areas in question are dangerous for sledders because of the steepness and narrow trail and with a cat coming down a collision would be quite possible. As well there should be a map showing where they are skiing and where it's ok to sled. I know for sure that the climb up Neptune is open to sledders, not sure about face of Mackie. Dan Davidoff is the guy to talk to, he's in contact with BRC on a regular basis. This is BRC's email address,

Kieran is one of the owners and has been decent to deal with. They are supposed to be shutting down any day now, not sure exactly when though.

Thanks for respecting the agreement! :beer; I guess they had some non-locals causing havoc last couple of years and a couple of non-injury collisions between a sled and snow-cat. I'd hate to see this area get regulated by government, they always know how to screw it up!

Thanks kootenaycat. I figured they would be shutting down soon, which is why I asked, we won't go in there if they are still using it, so many other areas to ride that we don't need to ride in their ski areas. I agree, I would hate to see a good spring riding area lost to bureacracy. Thanks for the info, I'll give them a call.
