BWear vs. TekVest

BWear - its the better of the two. I went through the same decision the beg. of last season and that was my conclusion. The BWear saved me some broken ribs too, I dropped off a bigger cornice than I thought in a white out up near Big Sky and got a concussion and some bruised ribs. The doctor wanted to see the vest I was claiming saved me more damage and he very impressed with its coverage and agreed I would have been worse off. Not to say a TekVest couldn't of saved me some hurt as well, but from my shoes I will never know - I'm glad the BWear was on me. Just my opinion.
Good luck!

I also did not know which vest to get so I bought both.
The tek vest is now for sale.xxxl 180.00 can. Used only twice

I didn't feel like spending $200-300+ on a vest so I went with the sixsixone core saver for this season. Tried it on and it's very comfortable. Got it online for $118 shipped.

Where did you try on the core saver in CO? I've been looking for somemone that carries them for months. It appears that the chest plate is by far the beefiest of all the brands. Cracked my sternum at V.P. in February, so the breast-plate protection is my biggest concern. And what's with this s/m or l/xl bs? Two frickin sizes? Which one did you go with?

Thanks,
Craig

Go with the L/XL for sure. Might need to shorten the waist strap if you got a 33" waist like me but you need the L/XL for the length. I know the S/M would fall short on the lower spine area. I just searched for it on google and found it for $118 shipped. Delivery was quick too.

Yeah the core saver is warm, light, and very comfortable to wear... And I broke a couple ribs while wearing mine last season....
 So I guess there's that to think about...

If you guys are serious about buying the core saver (It is by far NOT the best protection) Try the local mountain bike shop, I got mine off of Kipling... I tried it on with jacket before I bought it and thought it was great, untill I broke my ribs with it on

At least try one on first.Good luck with it:confused:

I'm also looking for a vest or chest protector this season, I took the end of my bars in the side on a wicked endo last season and broke a couple ribs. The problem I'm having is finding a vest with full coverage. I looked at the Tekvest and the sixonesix vest but neither offer full coverage (the side where I broke my ribs). Does that Icon vest have solid protection or just that silly foam padding? I'm not really worried about the shoulder pads.

Nice, thanks man...

i really have to stick with FCR on this one guys. the core saver isn't the way to go - if you want to protect your ribs with the best, go BWear. seriously

I am trying to save somebody some money and pain.:face-icon-small-con

I especially hope anyone who does any jumping around in the mountains will listen up.

Try on the core saver before you buy one. It may work with a short torso and extra strong bones:D
