Butte Meadows / Jonesville

Ok folks, looks who is back. I know, I know, who the heck is this guy. Just thought better late than never, if you aren't doing anything tonight in the valley - come to Nash's in Chico. The Hillsliders are having a meeting and I hope you can make it on short notice, please come. Meeting starts at 7pm but you can come early and eat a very good dinner.

Tell you what, if you read this and take the trouble to show up, I will purchase a refreshing libation for you. Two stipulations; you are of age and I will expect you to be a member in good standing of the Hillsliders (psst, paying up or joining tonight counts too)

Just ask for Mooseknuckle

See you soon. :face-icon-small-hap

Hey Mike,

I'm gonna try to do some more this year. Between farming and Farm Bureau obligations; it'll be a bit of a chore. I will have to be sneaky if I want to go big boy riding as my son would have an absolute conniption fit if he knew Daddy was going without him. But at 4,.... well, you know. And I don't think that my 8 month old is ready for anything other than a putt putt around the parking lot.

Hope to see you and your Sac Town contingent. We're thinking on going up after Christmas for a couple days with some out of town family. Miami to Butte Meadows - talk about culture shock. Have to laugh though, south Florida is pretty "rural" once you get off the interstate.

Hope to see some of you other old friends up there.

Just so everyone is aware; the Hillsliders has a brand spankin' new Facebook page. The idea behind it is to make it easier to get info about the club and conditions to the masses. So do a search for facebook and hillsliders and it should get you there. Like, fan, friend - whatever the heck it takes to get as many folks in the know as possible. I'm hoping that we never again hear, "but I didn't know about ...".

According to NWS, if half of what they're predicting shows up we should have 2-3 feet by after Christmas. Not quite enough for damage free riding in the boonies, but enough to send the groomers off. Speaking of damage, if you have a little left over from last year I know someone who is very capable at snowmobile service and repair. PM me if your are interested in contacting them, as I'd rather not turn this thread into Performance/Mod.

Will probably have the tribe up there mid week next week, so if you'll be around the Greater Urban Butte Meadows Area about that time then look me up. We can share a couple barley pops and debate the merits of ditch bombing vs. riding the rails of corduroy.

The groomer was out yesterday, only got a few miles in before he had to turn back. Going to try again Monday I believe. Check out Hillsliders.com for pics and updates.

Looks like an honest 2 feet at Butte Meadows. I think the road was blown to the park day before yesterday but I don't know if it has been done since. I don't know that it matters as you could certainly road ride out of Butte Meadows for the near future anyway.

Don't forget though that there are parking restrictions at some places for snow clearing equipment. Just be aware and be courteous and I think that the county can get it's work done and you can have your fun.

I think I'd be real careful going off track right now, but after this settles out and we get the next couple feet.......:face-icon-small-hap he he he.

Everyone have a good last day shopping.

Was up there Saturday night and went for night ride. The groomer went about 3-4 miles and turned around

My wife and I went about 3-4 miles past the groomer tracks and it was really deep. She made a right hand turn in to the creek and and I had to leave it there for the night.

Went back on Sunday PG&E really torn up the road just past the gate. But it was another 2 feet deeper past that.
Got the wife's sled out and lost another sled over the side on the way back to the truck. :face-icon-small-con

So Got to go back Christmas day and try and get another sled out of the canyon :face-icon-small-ton
It's great snow and theres alot of it :bounce:

WOW !

It this more than normal snow?

Chester got at LEAST 5+ feet of snow out of the last few days. The snow is great especially after you climb up a little higher. We made it to fannani and a ways down humboldt road towards ruffa ranch and had a blast. Turned back because it was midnight. From fannani to hwy 89 the road has been plowed. Looks like the loggers are still getting equipment out from fire clean up. Hopefully the groomers can knock down some of their burms and clean it up a bit. see you out there

And actually the humbug road from fannani meadows towards humbug summit has been plowed as well. Hopefully they turn off a couple miles up at the "Y" towards humbug valley. Keep your fingers crossed it doesnt go up towards the warming hut.

For one system it is. We got 6' in 72 hours at my place in Mineral. That's more than we got all last year combined. It was so deep yesterday I spent 90% of my time helping others get un-stuck. It was literally bottomless.

They are predicting another 1-2' this week.
