Burning Alpine Sleds!!!

It's working pretty well...

I have a few changes but over all it is working pretty well. We need to not go new places and loose our line and crash into big rocks and boulders. Guess that is part of the fun lol. Or... maybe we just need to pick a time with more water in the river.... probly not!!!

Hope you all enjoy!!!

It's almost snow season again!!!

It works!!!

So if you guys want to see more you will have to check out my u-tube channel. I won't be posting anymore of the little boat. I succeeded to a satisfactory level. I have some more minor tweaks and then I will be building another one with the changes built into it. Once it is proven I think we are going to seriously look at certification for the hull. I will not be doing motors and pumps. I think we will also offer a do it yourself kit. I believe this will probably be realistically next summer by the time we get everything in order. By the feedback I have received from everyone that has seen it or ridden in it, I believe the market is definitely there. Now we just have to make it happen.

Cheers, hope you all enjoy the vids!!!:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap

Back to the real deal!!!

Alpine Motorsports
Salmon Arm, BC

So here is the thing.... it seems there is an issue with Alpine Motorsports Turbo's out of Salmon Arm, BC. I know of more than one that has burned. Recently my Alpine sled caught fire. They have a fuel cell issue... as I have discovered... they are still using the same part in their new builds. I never knew this was a problem until this happened to me, but once it did, I discovered it has happened before. They claim there is no liability on their part and will offer no help.

Just a warning!!! Do not buy Alpine!!! I don't know who is better but good alternates may be "Impulse" or "Powderlites" turbo sleds.

Many of my family and friends have ridden my sled and unknowingly been at risk. The guy who was riding it caught fire. It burned his pants and backpack!!! LUCKY he got the pack off and the pants out!!!

The cap on the back of the tank came loose and fuel poured out onto the track and when he crested the hill and backed out of the throttle the exhaust ignited the fuel on the track. I do not see any CSA, ANSI or other ratings on this tank. Guessing it is not Canadian approved for motor vehicles. Working on finding out.

I feel very lucky the guys were on the ball and flipped the sled on its side and buried it in snow with shovels and a couple sleds pulled up beside it and roosted it with snow untill it was completely buried. The damage could have been way worse!!!

If you pay close attention, the front of the tunnel, tank and turbo area are free of soot and sign of fire. I don't have a pic here but the inside of the tunnel is completely black. The seat burnt completely. We flipped the seat up and there was the cap.... just sitting there!!! Good thing the seat had this area contained as it may have blown fuel all over the rider when it ignited and really caused harm to him!!!

If you have Alpine or want one, make sure your life insurance is paid in advance and your sled insurance is up to date!!!

If you have an Alpine that burned or know of one that has please add to this site. I contacted Julian on the 10th of April, 2012 and filled him in. I am adding this info so if anyone decides to pursue the legalities it is documented here on snowest for all to see. I will stand beside you in a court of law and testify. All you have to do is contact me and I will be glad to assist you!!! I don't normally take things to the extreme but this is an extreme case. These guys know there is an issue and have no intention of fixing it, they just want your money and that is where it ends!!!

FYI!!!

Gonna post some pics for your info!!!

So I need to re-state the reason I started this thread. Once again I have to say I asked for a thought. None given. I love the product.... support sucked!!! In my opinion buy someone else's product. I think Neil at Boost it is the new up and coming guy with the two strokers!!!! He already has "THE" fuel control for
the four strokers. In my opinion, no one else even comes close on the 4 stroke fuel control. There are a lot of awesome turbo kits out there. Neil is not the only one on the block. Boon docker has a great fuel system, Prologger has some cool stuff built in... Alpine has one of the best front mount systems... BUT!!! You are only as good as the service provided by the dealer!!! If there is no service after the fact, then the product sucks!!!

Impulse, Powderlites, MPI, Twisted, Silber, Boondocker, Boost It.... All great alternatives. I know there are more out there I have missed and I apologize for my lack of memory. I ask only that you look around before you decide Alpine is the only turbo kit. They have a cool store and they are friendly. They sell the product and build it. They even stand good for that which does not cost them $$$ but when push comes to shove they don't like to work to hard on anything above the sale.

I asked for info to insure my sled... Julian said sorry here is a guys phone number in AB to call, get insurance through his company. Phoned the guy and he was p'd to say the least when he answered the phone to find another of Julien's customers phoning him for info.

All I asked for was a build sheet.... I did not ask why he charged me what he charged. My customers ask for breakdowns all the time. The cost of materials is the cost of materials.... Sled $14500, turbo kit stage 2... $ 6500, install $4000, Cr tunnel and 162 x 16 x 2 1/2 track c/w m-10 $6000, Install $2000..... Ya would have been tough and I would have had insurance in 3 minutes instead of p'in around for weeks with crap. Secrets I guess.... . Don't want the customer to know what the build actually cost I guess. I already know and I don't have to be in business to get it.

I said I would keep this thread rolling until I cooled off. I guess I haven't quite cooled off yet. I have had some positive and some negative feedback on this issue. I expected this. One cannot expect to coast through life without some negative feedback. I guess this is what makes us better and keeps us on our toes. I hope Alpine can someday eat some crow and learn from this experience. I have heard through the grapevine they are not happy about this thread. I am happy about that and am not ashamed to admit it. Insurance played a factor in this and I am happy about that also. I hope the insurance company that insures Alpine investigates this further and causes them some aggravation. I am not asking to have them run out of business, I think they actually deserve to be in a position of respect amongst the community, what they need to learn is to respect and honour in their business.

We are not all the Flying Italian's and such. We are however people and respect goes a long way. I did not feel the respect factor in this at all. I suppose if Julian had offered it would have been admitting guilt and that could have opened a whole new can of worms with previous customers. I don't have the answers. I am baffled and frustrated. I am disappointed... I thought I had made a good deal with good people. I still believe that may be true. Maybe the decisions were made hastily and maybe they are sorry. I will offer this to them: Appologize and this thread will fade away....

Yeee Haaaahhhh!!!!

if i apologise for them....can i have your boat..??

AWESOME!!!! We gotta hook up for a ride this winter!!! You ROCK m8. Lets do a ride and we can talk. If you are up for it this summer, we could do a river tour up here in the great white north. May end up at my lodge in northwest BC later in the season but it will be with my big boat on the Stikine River. Not sure if I will make it there this year tho... .

I'm really trying to get over it... honestly. I guess time heals all wounds. I really don't hate them, I'm just not sure I really like them... for now!!!

Ha Ha...

I guess m8 is the real Great White North!!!! I'm the great brown south or something.... depends on the year lol. Still we are Northern AB. Not the Yukon. Anyway bud if you happen to venture my way... send me a pm and we can do a ride. I will probably offer a ride to most out there if they venture my way. Anyone who wants a tour here pm me. I'll probably chat you up for awhile to get to know you better before I offer but I have taken many peeps for a riv tour and have had 100 % success. I have yet to have someone leave dissatisfied.

Last guy I took was from Texas. I got the impression he had a blast!!!

We are Canadian!!! We ROCK!!!
