BULLSH** POLARIS (ELECTRIC RELAYS IN HARNESS GO BAD FROM WATER INTRUSION)

So just the 2 relays up top? My buddy's 2017 gauge went out yesterday and his sled started cutting out.

I can count 5 relays on the ES equipped Axys
2 on the cross bar
1 in the bag above the clutch cover ( it is in there)
2 in line on the battery harness almost on top of the battery

Has anyone successfully had this covered under warranty? I had a look at both of my relays and both had some strange corrosion going on there, scrapped it off with a knife and worked fine the next day.. but obviously I'm not going to rely on this forever..

remove the 2 relays from where they are laying down, cut the 2 relays apart, cleaned and put dielectric grease on them, re-tape them up good, including the connector, cut the tape on the harness so there is enough wire to relocate the relays up to the over structure, just under the air box, have had no issues since dealer did this to mine

Does anyone know the function for each relay at each location? I've got the two on the crossbar by the pipe, one in the velcro bag above the clutch and one above my battery, need to look for the 5th one by the battery. Would be nice to know if for instance my gauge went out which relay it is vs just swapping relays until it works again. Also found it interesting that on both of my 16's all of the relays came dry with no dielectric on them from the factory and both of my 17's came with a significant amount of dielectric on both crossbar ones and the one above the battery but the one in the Velcro bag above the clutch was dry and already showing some powdery white corrosion after only 200 miles of riding. Thanks

From Post # 38

Polaris Manual:
Load shed relay supples power to high beam
LEDs, hand thumb warmers, and battery charge relay coil control and power.

The low beam LEDs are powered by the RD/WH DC
Chassis circuit and always on. When the driver pushes
the high beam button on the left hand control, the high
beam switch is closed and power from the load shed
relay (RD/DB) circuit is connected to the YE/RD high
beam circuit. This action illuminates the high beam LEDs
in the headlight.

The load shed relay is located in the protective bag
above the clutch cover.

Excludes 2015 snowmobiles.
LOAD SHED RELAY provides the following:
• High Beam Switch / LED Array Power
• Battery Charge Relay Power
• Hand Warmer Power
• Thumb Warmer Power
• The ECU will close the load shed relay when the
engine speed is greater than 1,500 RPM and chassis
voltage (RD/WH) is greater than 12.8 VDC. During
engine operation, if the engine speed falls below 1,500
RPM or chassis voltage falls below 12 VDC, the ECU
will open the relay and not close it again until engine
speed is in excess of 2,200 RPM and chassis voltage
is greater than 12.8 VDC.

Bought 8 last Sunday and got mine Tuesday. load shed relay in my bag was all corroded

Hope this makes it better for ya my friend !!

Gotta love spending less for 8 of them (shipped) than you do for one at the parts counter when it is 100% the same part and manufacturer !!
