I'm just glad I have my 06 800X. Put the 2nd belt on at 900 miles just to see if the old one was losing performance...it wasnt and is now a good spare. 1300 miles on sled and only problem was the throttle screws coming loose. I know this isnt a lot of miles but so far is a great sled. I think BRP needs to put a lot more effort into testing in the spring and not changing stuff into production that they are not sure will work?

BRP messed up the secondary ! It does not close as much as BRP intended it to. Take it apart and you will see they meant for it to close more allowing to tighten the belt deflection more than you can currently get after the belt stretches. Machine it and regear and add some weight. Clutches should run cooler and less belt wear.

Hilly just got a new motor in his M-1000 , and he didn't want one. He was fine with the old and had no probs. And he got another year warrantee. Cat is good.......

You pay your money and take your chances. It is a crap shoot with any first year anything. Sleds, trucks, whatever. You want to be the first guy on the hill with the latest and greatest, expect to have some problems. I thank all you test pilots for saving my money for me, cause I leared my lesson the hard way (97 vmax), and will probably never buy a first year production machine again. I am sure that many of the new xp riders will be feeling the same way after the season.
As for all the wise cracks about jumping brands and you shoulda bought this instead... That could slap you in the face. Next year may be the year of your favorite brands lemon, cause they all have them.

Yeah, have to agree with glassman. After 12 years of riding in the mountains and wanting the biggest, badest thing to climb anything, you have to stick with ski-doo. All my buddies ride Polaris with every SLP part on it and they or any other Polaris, never to this day have out climbed a stock ski-doo, and comparing same track lenths, motor sizes, etc. Even when they ride my ski-doo up the hill, they try all day and never make it the my ski-doos highmark, even when they were riding my sled. Polaris DOES make a great sled and reliable, but I wont mention the 1 year problems they have had ALSO!!!!! Basically, the rider plays a big part of mountain riding.

1st years sleds will always have problems. I helped out our dealership which the owner raced for ski-doo for 25 years, and out of 4 proto-types(all 154s) the top sled mileage was 1886mi. with NO BELT PROBLEMS! and no belt problems on any of them or ANY ski-doo, which I have never riden anything but mountains in CO, WY, B.C. and turboed sleds. There is some gearing you can do to gain about 1 sled lenth from a out-of-the-box set-up, but that is something only that our shop does, that I know of.

Dragon was a great contender in the D/XP race, but after seeing a proto dragon vs. a XP side by side and switching riders. The XP won by 7-10 sled lenths going up a 45-50 degree hill with 18" of untouched snow.

Horsesh!t!

Are You serious? What was he racing 25 yrs ago and what does that have to do with a 2008 XP mountain sled?
Blah Blah Blah- more BS- Blah Blah Blah
"One time in Band Camp"
So You Know I helped my dealer as well by buying a sled. then I let him get back to work. I thought My dealer was the ONLY one who did gearing changes.

It's your story, Keep telling it.And remember "You're the MaN!"

Whatever it takes, BRP should definitely step up to the plate and show a little concern for the problems that many of their customers are having with their product. I know that if I was to spend 10 grand on a brand new machine, it had better be everything I was lead to believe it to be, or I would never do business with them again. I can accept that there may be problems that have to be fixed, but to make ME pay for it, that's NOT right!!!

Come on BRP, show that you have some ethics!!!

I love my RMK:cool:

Just to let you know, as this was mentioned in at least a couple of previous threads, the "proto dragon" was a stock 07 700, comparing it to a brand new 800 is not a fair comparison!

And the little Poo was the closest and did beat out the Yamaha and Arctic Cat sleds that were bigger than it too!

Since it is a theoretical possibilty that as objects approach the speed of light their mass will increase infinitely, would an Apex still weigh more than an XP if they were both traveling near the speed of light?

LOL! Just thought I would add a random comment like most of the people seem to be doing on this thread. Anybody every heard of sticking to the topic?

Anyways, I hope you get that XP deal figured out Darrell. I want to ride with you and your crew before I leave for Laramie in January. I saw lots of XP's in Cooke this weekend but didn't get to see how they performed.

What a Jack@ss!

What a Jack@ss this guy is. Where should I start picking your load of horsesh1t apart?? You claim a modded Polaris of same size and track length can't outclimb ANY stock Ski-doo??? Ya, ok there Tyrone Biggums: Crackhead Extrordinaire. Puff Puff Pass dude.

Secondly you claim that even when your friends ride your sled they cant out highmark you. Which means 1 of 3 things. Either you ride with a bunch of War Amp Hairlips, in which case NOTHING they ride would ever be any good. OR........... you might be a better rider than them (anythings possible, look at Michael Jackson) OR........ maybe you are full of sh1t and overcompensating for something, say lack of ability, or testicles. Bet your riding buddies would tell a different story.

Third your dealer enjoyed losing races for 25 years by racing for Doo and now that makes him an expert on tuning a mountain sled?? Alrighty then. You claim you have never rode anything but mountains in CO, WY. and B.C and just HAD to throw "turboed" sleds in there??? Why, does it make your story about Ski-doo more believeable if you have rode a Turbo??? And apparently your dealer is the only one who can "make Doo go fast, climb high, not explode" lol.

And lastly you say the Dragon lost to the XP by 7-10 sled lengths in 18" of snow on a 45 degree hill. What you forgot to mention was when you used the XP's "special Doo powers" and time warped to the top of the hill.

We should introduce you to Chuck Norris. He has a roundhouse kick for stories like yours.

I can't believe that BRP won't cover this under warranty. Dayco will replace a belt at anytime. Just send it in with $10.00 to cover the shipping and they will send you a new belt. They don't care how many miles you put on it! By the way, the only belt I ever burned on my M7 was when I forgot to release the brake. Been running a Dayco ever since (about 1000 miles).
