I think you have every right to be pissed. Blowing belts that early is total BS. Theres no reason a multi billion dollar company cant release a sled that can run the same belt a full season.

I would be pissed too. I still have my original belt as a spare and I will be using my original spare this season.Over 4400kms and the sled was broken in on a dragstrip.

Not to hijack this thread or anything, but you need better sources of information. Last year's Dragon came with the Gripper skis, which most people liked a lot and are generally accepted as one of the finest OEM skis to hit snow. And the suspension? The IQ RMK is widely regarded as one of the best if not the best riding mountain mount out there in terms of suspension performance and rider comfort. Only thing with the '07 Dragons is that some guys needed to add pressure to their front shocks.

I was hoping to see a little better showing from the XP. It's the first Doo that I was ever really excited about. But the handwarmer problem, tweaked front ends from routine hits, and now the belt problems (which were predicted by pretty much all of us Poo pundits last spring) kindof have the bloom off the rose. Still hoping for a ride on one this year, but I'm going to sit tight with the Dragon for a while.
A few belt issues or not the XP is the real deal boys, stand back and say told you so while you are getting spanked ,700 Dragon is miles away, better hope the 800 Dragon is 160 hp and on a diet! Still won't help the downhill poor handling Dragon habits.........

T/A

I hope BRP is listening to this. My new '01 AC MC 800 blew the first belt after only 30 miles.
Cat coughed up a gear change and a new belt.
Pay attention BRP.

WHATEVER!!!

Sorry for my ignorance, but what is this about?

i agree. cant say ive never heard anyone complain about a diving rev going down hill. the little bit i rode one that thing took me where ever it wanted to going down a powdery hill.

glad to see VE is pickin up his dad's slack on the BRP lovin though

Sugar snow conditions the Dragon is nasty, weak front shocks make it sidehill easy, aim it downhill in the tree's and it sucks.

The cause of the belt problems with the XP's seem pretty obvious. Everyone says an uncrated sled runs 8300-8400 rpm. Peak power for the 800 is 8000 rpm. You fellas need to throw more at the primary. The heat is coming from slippage at the primary. That's my uneducated guess. Pull the rpms down, boys. Added weight will get you that much needed belt squeeeeeeeeeeze.

BTW, I have no problem riding downhill with my IQ chassis sled. It helps to know how to ride. ;)

Do a Dragon's downhill handling charateristics make the XP's belt last longer

How does bagging on other guy's machine fix the problem? I'd be some pissed if my new sled couldn't keep a belt in it and I don't give a **** who's name's on the hood.

I had an 800 Rev for 3 seasons and even with bad clutching and an ACT 10" secondary clutch I never blew a belt. I ran a very stiff primary spring (200/380) and more weight so it would have more clamping force at shift out. I had less heat, no belt marks, and never a blown belt. IMO, I would load the primary up.

Keep in mind if BRP admits there is a flaw, it kinda makes them liable and recalls are not cheap!!!!!

But if they don't take care of you......don't buy BRP products any more.....or maybe they know just how loyal you are......and figured out you'll be buying 5-10 belts this season to ride......

Lets see thats
X number of belts times @ $$$ea Xmount of riders times times = SOME EXCELLENT MARKETING

And arent the belts more money than ever??? They don't seem to be any better quality so it must be just better mark up?????
And you thought they sleds wore expensive......hehehehe

I would be freakin pissed.......am just gonna keep riding my old junk!!! It sounds about as reliable!!!!!!!

Was bagging on a sled we have, not another guys!

Exactly

Thank you

You are obviously not an idiot. But it does make my point. Middle of the road gearing is not a flaw, right?

So you gear a mountain sled with "middle of the road" gearing? A similar analogy to that is like putting a 4.56 rear end in a Dodge Viper.........fuggin stupid.... Why would you not put a proper gear in it to begin with? Purpose built sleds (i.e. Mountain sleds) should NOT come with middle of the road gearing (or anything for that matter) just like they don't come with a "middle of the road" track. When was the last time you saw a 1.25" track on anything other than a 500 class sled in the last 5 yrs?

my RANT is over, sorry..

:o:oTalked to the dealer today and besides some misunderstanding and me not talking directly with him i beleive we will get this worked out without me biotching any more..i NEVER WAS Mad at the dealer and if i implied that i'm sorry,,i was and am disappointed in BRP's failure to have this belt issue under control before they hit the snow, thats not Dustins fault..i think this is going to be a awesome sled and i hope not to go thru a bunch of belts like last year,,so i'll quit my complaining and sit back and give BRP a chance to cure the problem.. enough said . i'm going riding....

Some of us only took one year to learn our lesson. You still might be able to find an 800 Dragon.... :beer;

edit - btw Dragon is still on original belt.

When I traded in my 03 viper it was still running the original belt 7000ks Now THAT is clutching:D
