I do not claim to be an expert at all but the motoman article was interesting. I agree it has some very compelling logical arguments. As for the "does it apply to 2-strokes" what I took to be particularly relevant was the warm up procedure. Make sure the engine is up to temp before running it hard. Regardless of either school of thought I think this important. Then vary the throttle and ride like you would normally...
As for the blow by from unseated rings, I think it is less damaging to 2-strokes because the fluids in the bottom end are cycled through so the contaminants get burned. Where as in a 4-stroke the contaminants will accumulate in the lubricating oil and reduce its lubricating properties.
