Best Fix kit for 2013 Pro???

So all I need is the direct piston replacement and call it good?

http://www.2strokeheads.com/Polarispistons.htm

Is it worth going with the high performance head for the extra $500????

Yes, and, ummm..... yes. The head is a nice upgrade but you can add that at anytime.

Its all about cylinder and piston tolerances. When I tore mine down at 1600 miles, I mic'd the cylinders and magnafluxed them. They were fine, The stock pistons however, both skirts had collapsed in slightly. I have no doubt they would have caused serious damage in another 1000 miles. This was primarily a 11-12 problem, but can happen in 13+. The RK Tek pistons made it run like a new sled. Idled nice and smooth and felt smoother through the rpm range.

I am personally not a believer in the "fix kits". Talk to Kelsey at RK Tek for 10 minutes and you'll see where I'm coming from. Raising the jugs and going with a taller piston does work, but its unnecessary to fix piston slap or poor tolerance problems.

Were you talking of Rev1 or Rev2 theory? If your throwing in some pistons anyway.

Just called em up and ordered some new pistons. The head upgrade requires a fuel controller as well for the 2013's and I didn't have the $$ to swing the whole setup. So at least for now I shouldn't have to worry about a skirt dropping to my crank and detonating my one source of true happiness lol ;)

Mike too bad you already ordered. You should have called Curt at Fastrax. He would have steered you in the right direction. Like said above, there is a lot of snake oil out there. At least take your cylinders to him to measure and inspect. He has a good eye and is very intelligent on these motors. Also, you might want to have him do the cheap fix on the crankshaft thrust. Insurance against a catastrophic failure.

Good lord, there's just too much and too many opinions to keep up on. Whats wrong with the crank? I thought the piston skirt was the issue?

we run a mtn tk fix kit and a PA head on a 13 with out a fuel controller 500 miles now turning a 163 3 inch no issues works good

crankshaft thrust?? Do tell!!

I installed a RKT DI kit 2 years ago in my 11 assault. Swapped that to my 12 assault. Worked real good in both sleds.
Now updating to his rev 2 kit in my 12.

Going back over the directions I see one of the steps is to check the ring end gap to 18-20 thou....I haven't done this on any of the installs, have you guys been checking the gap before installation?

i thought i had mine gaped correctly but on inspection they were a hair too tight. i tore it back down, got new rings, re honed and did it right. i got lucky i guess.
