One thing that helps a ton when putting the skid back in is using a ratchet strap and sucking the rear shock down a few inches.
Ordered clips and a tool from tracks USA. Removed the skid and crimping the clips on was a breeze, maybe 45 minutes. Hardest thing was putting the skid back in.
I recommend the tool that reaches over the lugs and you do not have to remove the skid as you work from outside the track and not inside.

I'm sure you can find it elsewhere too.

Do you have to take the skid out to use this tool, or will it work from the outside of the track with no skid removal?
He said in a previous post that no skid removal is necessary and it can be used from the outside of the track. That is why he recommended that particular tool.
Timbre, can you not see the pics in post #59? Shows the Amazon tool being used right on the sled.
Yes, I did see post #57 but was not aware that was the amazon tool being used, or that it was being used on a 3" track.

Scratchers !!!!
Don't think you can ride down a flat trail.. and have Zero Wear on the track..
These are purpose built sleds For Dee Snow.. Why not take the clips off for less weight..
But if u have to run the trails... then you might want to think about clipping ur track.. adding 2 lbs.. Not a big deal
Id Add a few more Scratchers my .02
The tool goes through from the inside out.
I get it now.
( retracting my defense of your question)
No, it is easy without the skid out. The tool separates into 2 pieces to feed through the windows.
