Avy victim at Johnsons Pass!!!!!!!!

R.i.p!

:brokenheart:I also knew the guy. Very sad day , we were riding Skookum just across the moutains from JP.At first we were also headed to JP , but decided the danger was to great with all the new snow. Does any one know any new details on the recovery effort, or location of the Avy?:brokenheart:

RIP bro

May the fallen rest in peace. Warm regards to his family and friends.

Also, I don't think snow conditions were a big secret to anyone yesterday. I rode turny yesterday and the majority of people stayed frontside because of the elevated avy conditions. I would be brave enough to say(and hope) that most of the people who climb over to the backside(or anywhere with complex terrain) on days like yesterday know what they are up against. The period of ignorance in regards to snow conditions is fading - thanks to websites like this and CNF's avalanche advisory page.

Ramrod, as previously stated, may your friend rest in peace - and my thoughts and prayers are with him, his family, and friends.

This just reminds me to tell my family and friends how much I love them before I go sledding, ride my harley, or what ever the day has in store for me. My thoughts and prayers are with the rider and other victims of avalanches. I am so thankful for all the people that volunteer their time to rescue and recover avalanches victims. We know this rider is definitely riding in a better place than we will get to here on earth! God bless this rider and the people affected by this incident!

CRASH!!!

I do the same thing, you just never know what may happen. :brokenheart:
RIP and let God comfort the family and friends who knew him.:( I hope the snow is constant up there....:rose:

may he rest in peace. i will always miss his smile and joking around the shop.
i will be joining the others to recover his body as soon as weather permits.
please be safe and use your head. if you buddy is climbing dont sit at the bottom of the same hill, we almost lost others while they were trying to get away from this same slide.

We are headed out in the morning to try to bring him out, Was told the troopers were going to lets us in. For all who go and help watch out and be safe. Lets go and bring him home BUT with out any other people being hurt.

Sleazo I don't know where your info came from but as of 7:00 AM this morning we do not have access to Johnsons to go back in. PM me if you would.
Thanks,
Mike

so by you saying that we dont have access to him. you must mean because hes in a closed riding area rite?

That is ppobably part of it, but the bigger picture is I am sure that they are concerned about the avy danger up there. Snowed most of the day yesterday, and most of last night. Be smart guys, We sure don't need to lose anybody else while attempting to get him out. I understand full well wanting to get him him off the mountain and home. Please think smart.
Rest in peace and prayers to the family and those who rode with him.

With all the crap that was going on this past Friday I had a very bad feeling about avy's this weekend. I had told the wife that someone was going to get hurt very badly or possibly killed with the way things had been going but I hoped like h e l l that I was wrong.
Our deepest condolences to his family and friends, I can't even imagine how they must be feeling. I hope you can get in there and get him out soon for his family's sake.

I dont know if he was a member nick ....

no he wasnt a member on snowest
and yes while trying to rescuse him lets be safe. the friends and family might be doing this by their selves. some times the troopers put things off like this as they did last year when we were trying to get jermery and christoph out of turnigain

As of my last post Forest Service is sitting at the Trail Head not allowing us in. They want to drop some Av bombs and stabalize the area before allowing anyone in. That's all I know, I will post here as soon as I have a go, hopefully today. You can PM me if you would like, I've got to head to town to pick up some things but will take my laptop with me.
Mike

Mike, let me know if/when the FS will let the search group in if you need more volunteers.
If they drop more snow, the debris will be even deeper.... 2 years ago it took 91 days before Brandon was found at Hatchers... so this offer lasts till he's found.
