I stand by what I said, we do NOT give enough in foreign aid, once again... the United States gives less money when compared to % of GDP than pretty much any other developed country.
0.15% is a joke.
We are still giving more than at least 90% of developed countries.
Health care needs fixed, it is getting to the point that only the wealthy have health care. I am not saying the government should be in control of it, but do you REALLY trust YOUR life with an (for profit) insurance company?
It's better than Universl healthcare. If there's no cost to healthcare than we'll be shelling out tons of money for those that are too lazy to take care of their bodies. With Universal healthcare are we going to exclude cancer patients that have smoked for 30 yrs and put themselves in that predicament? I don't think so. but why should that fall on tax payers shoulders.
I agree it needs to be fixed but that's not how. This is one place that I agree more regulations are needed. We don't need to see 100 friggen prescription drug ads a day on TV. No matter what they say that's increaseing costs and increaseing drug seeking patients.
Road less areas.... well when you live in Colorado and see all the overdeveloping I have seen, I tend to think some road less/undevelopable areas would not be such a bad idea.
That's your state's job. Not national government's job. I don't know what the situation is like in CO but I lived in MT and Frequent ID and they've gone nuts with this stuff there. It's gone too far. Road less areas are one step from Wilderness and being shut off to all motorized use. Your not going to find many on here that aren't already sick and tired of getting areas taken away. It also significantly impacts local commerse when this happens local tax base goes down and in order to support the current local govt budget taxes then must go up and many times do.
I am not ready to jump on the global warming bandwagon but I can say that humans do effect the environment. My stepfather who has asthma can tell the air quality in Denver and in more remote areas of the state. The air literally effects how he feels. To simply say that humans don't change anything within the world, to me is crazy.
I know I will sound Liberal for that, but what is wrong with preserving our environment?
I personally like hunting and fishing in the outdoors, I would like to be able to continue to enjoy it.
Do I think we should have a complete lock down on pollution from cars, factories, etc? No
I do think we should use technology and do what we can to keep our air and water clean. I do think there is a happy medium.
I too think that there is a better way but carbon credits and locking motorized vehicles out of areas only further concentrates polution and many times forces more driving to get to areas that are open to ride. That is counter productive.
I can post all sorts of stuff from ultra right wing blogs and websites that will make Obama look like the anticrist but I won't bore everyone with that.
