Albany Parking Area

reading comprehension is your friend, but I bet you're one of those people that doesn't read the fine print on anything...

Again, the main issue here is following the rules of the Forest Service. If it states "no overnight parking", the rules should be followed, no matter if you are a local or a flatlander. I was a flatlander 10 yrs. ago, and now I'm a local, and I still don't have any right to bend the rules. I park on the other side of the mountain (tic's parking lot or on the side of the road by Fox park) when I stay overnight at the cabin. And God forbid, if I have to drive my sleds up the mountain, drop, drive my rig down to town and have someone else drive me back up the mountain so I can enjoy the outdoors without breaking the rules, I guess that's the way I will enjoy what is in my backyard. It's going to happen sooner or later, someone is going to get towed down the mountain, and it's going to cost 800.00 bux to get your rig out of impound, and then the Sheeeet is gonna hit the fan, but until then, just like speeding down the interstate until you get caught, I guess keep doin what you think you all have a God given right to do, and don't follow the SIMPLE RULES designated by the Forest Service. And when the forest service takes the parking lot at Albany away from ALL of us, and we ALL have to park on the side of the road, or pay good money to park on someone's private property, and the Albany Lodge, where everyone loves to converse and have a good meal and a drink, is closed down because nobody parks at the lodge because there is no parking lot and Ray cannot afford to keep the doors open, we can all look back at this thread and ponder the question, "Why couldn't we all just get along and follow the rules of the Forest Service"...
BTW, I did drive through the lot this weekend, and stopped at the lodge to hang with Management, and really didn't see many issues at all with parking. Seemed to me everyone was at least trying to park rather considerately. Granted, I drove through the lot around 4:30 or 5:00 pm, so I probably missed a bunch, but I have seen much worse, and it was really nice to see the burm in the middle of the lot in place.
Peace to all, and enjoy the GREAT OUTDOORS!!!

Yeah I met the owner- is that who you want to be- when you grow up?

The current owner of the lodge is a great guy - he and his partners have done a great job since they bought the place a few years ago (I don't know if you were around or not prior to the last change of ownership). The new hotel rooms, snowmobile and ATV rental operation, and remodeled bar/restaurant are big improvement from what used to be there. He also has always been there for us to lend a hand or lend some advice when working on our cabin, two years ago he lent us his John Deere front end loader when we had to unload the tracks from the semi for our snow cat which saved us a ton of time and $$ (he would not accept our $$)

I'm not sure what your issue with the lodge is, but it is for sale if you think you can do a better job. I hope that whoever next owner keeps things "as-is" because we've had nothing but good experiences with the Albany Lodge.

The current owner of the lodge is a great guy.... .

Oh Really

A cat cant change his stripes ;) When he had a dealership in Laramie-- He put the screws to me - he said If don't like it go to Casper. And then he lied to my son when he was asked on the issue.

I heard one of the groomers up there worked out of his house for a while and he sold the house to someone back east. Part of roof was collapsed. The groomer said he didn't tell the new owner about the roof --That's not honest- Like I said a cat cant change his stripes ;)

You obviously have an axe to grind so I'm not going to change your opinion, he's been nothing but a good friend to us, so you aren't going to change my opinion either. As for the roof collapsing, I'm sure that had nothing to do with all the snow we got last year, several cabins and buildings up in that area have had issues the last few years as well, so that wasn't the only one.....

Sorry to the rest of you for my hijacking of this thread - we now return you to our regularly scheduled discussion!

You might be better off quoting facts rather than rumors. He sold the cabin to someone from California and the roof collapsed and was repaired by his insurance company, I know this for fact. Also it wasn't the cabins roof that colapsed it was a outbuilding. Rays a businessman and does a great job with the lodge and was the best groomers that the snowies ever had. You can tell stories about any dealer, you can't satisfy everyone, don't know what your issue was.
