Has anyone relocated the air intake on their blower? I have been having problems with the snow building up on the hood and not allowing the air into the blower. any help would be much appreciated.

I made a clean looking cool air intake for my previous sled.
1.Use your template plate that was used for the S.C. hole in the frame, flip it around and it will bolt to the other side. Bore a 2 ½” hole in the frame.
2.Use 2 ½” S/S pipe to bring is out the side of the frame. Cut it so that it sick out the side about ¾”.
3.Couple it to the S.C. with a rubber pipe connector from Home Depot.
4.Use a SPI, Kickass or Prok air filter that fit the 38 to 40mm carbs, also use a outerwear pre filter.
5.The filter will then be rite under the side panel screen so you will need to also put some pet screen on top of the OEM screen so that snow does not get in there. If you want to up the cool air flow some more then pot some round SLP pre filters on the front side of the air filter; use small one because the body panel is slightly curve in this spot. We also make a screen kit for the body that include 4 screens. You can see them at www.timbersled.com .
Also recommend an intercooler fan. The combination of these 2 things will make our S.C. Nytro run more consistent.

Is this for an apex or a nytro??
on an apex just cut a whole and extend your filter straight up.. works like a charm.. dc

It is on a apex. I have been looking at putting it up or running it all the way back behind the windsheild. any experance with either???

People have done this with success on Apexes and RX-1s. But be watchfull of the bends and size of the piping and smoothness of the inside of the pipe. Restriction in the intake will lessen the amount of boost produced.

piece of pvc pipe from home depot straight up to the bottom of the hood with a female coupler glued on.then a male coupler with a 20 degree bend screwed into that so you can unscrew and plug at the end of the day and still use the cover. worked awesome. actually had to add some weight to the primary as it was bouncin the rev limiter after this mod. lot crisper off the bottom and no more deep pow choke. when it starts gettin covered a slight throttle chop blows the snow away from the filter.as far as reducing boost mine actually went up on the gauge with this done. think because its getting a cooler denser charge of air. do it youll be glad you did!
