900 RMK vs M1000

The 900 Dragon pictured above(yes its a production sled 1 of 500 out there) has the full SLP exhaust, intake, clutching, and venting. That sled has alot of power i don't think theres a N/A 800 or a stock 1000 that would keep up with it. I know my M8 wont.
That being said I would still rather have an M. I hated the way that Dragon handled and it had the front widening kit also.

I have ran with one, on my 07 and I've had 03 800 poos come closer. the 09 m1000 stock will beat it flat out not compete with it, but flat walk on it. I am not talking in a drag race either, it might have a chance there but so does a stock apex.

Once you add the slp stuff to a m1000 theres nothing else on the market with a full pipe set that competes, while everyone is trying to compete with the m1000 the m1000 is trying to compete with turbos, totally different leage

wyoboy1000 Either we (900 owners) haven't ran into many good running 1000s or you haven't ran into any good running 900s

i rode a 07 m1000 with twins, bro has a m7 with a 900 kit and a buddy has a 05 poo 900. The m7(900) was comparable to the poo but it wasn't even close to me.

The track makes ALL the differance!

Put a good track on a RMK900 and it will go! It'll still weigh 590lbs but it'll go!:p

The Power Claw is pretty awesome on a light weight sled!:D

.

ditto

Not to bash but after riding a m1 for 2 seasons I would compare a 900 to a stock yami before anything else, but without reliability. completely unimpressed and everyone I know of had problems.

The ones I ride with are always having some kind of issue , especially eating belts. No to mention it is a tank that is not balanced at all.:D

I ride an 07 M1000 and my cousin rides an 06 900....His sled keeps up pretty close on flat land drag races but thats it.(lets be honest, who buys a mountain sled to drag race in the flats) On any hills or in any kind of powder the 900 stands no chance of competing. It is clearly evident that the 1000 will go many places that you wouldnt even try to go on the 900. Not sure how much lighter the 1000 is but when riding the two, the 1000 feels at least 200 lbs lighter. After a couple hours of riding your feet and legs will be numb from the outrageous vibration on the 900 also. After riding my sled a few times last year my cousin sold his 900 and just picked up an 08 1000 snopro.

Don't want to sound like an a$$ but I still ride 06 900 166" and the only reason I have not purchased a new sled is because there has not been any new sleds modded or not that have performed any better than the 900

Same reason I am still riding one. You guys can go blow your 11k on a new sled and I will still pack your lunch with the ole 900:beer; BTW, Someone stated its compared to a new 800 and that is correct. I run mark for mark with a cloth hood, slp piped, holz suspension 09 800, then I hit the NOS and its game over for him, now I wont need to buy the refills:)

ohhhh who really cares.... this has to be answering a question for two highschool kids in study hall... argue'n about who's dady's sled is faster... ;)

So, is it the 900 or the 166" track?? Are you running the 166" x 2.4"? I am going to put a 166" on my Cat, been very impressed at how well the 159" x 2.4" works!!

It would be kinda hard to compare the 2 also because they never made a dragon version of the 900 either so i'm pretty sure the m1 sno pro would be the top dog of that shoot out.

Yes that is a 900 dragon directly from polaris. I have one as well. It didn't matter if the sled were a dragon or not, the only difference was different shocks and some cool stickers and an all black tunnel. Gotta say, everyone is arguing about this or that being better, the problem with the majority of Cat riders is that they are all so dam biased. Not saying Polaris guys aren't, just saying that everybody is going to root for whatever they ride. I will be happy to use myself as an example. I grew up on Polaris, and have never owned another breed of sled. I ride the Polaris RMK, one of my roomates rides a turbo'd m7, Another an 800 rev, 2 of them IQR's, and buddies with nytro's and xps. We have a complete variety. So everybody quit being biased and grow a little thicker skin!

Apples to Oranges!

Lets think about this one here shall we.... 900 RMK vs. M1000

Stock:

HP:
900 - 150
1000 - 165

Displacement:
900 - 866
1000 - 999

Weight:
900 - 550 dry
1000 - 510 dry

Technology:
900 - 2005
1000 - 2007

Vibration... ya, there's no cure for that...

So you guys who are wanting to compare stock to stock, keep this stuff in mind, by ALL rights, the 1000 SHOULD DESTROY the 900. Now if you have a 900 that has been setup with all the bolt on goodies to get the weight down in the same ballpark then you'll have a more fair comparison. You can get a 900 RMK down to 510 or 515 VERY easily.

The 1000, aside from the fact that it came out AFTER the 900 line was suspended, also benefited from 2 years of chassis refinement before it was introduced, the stock 900 did not, it was completely new in every way when it was introduced and had some bugs to work out.

Now, with all that said, Why is it that the 900 owners keep running their sleds and improving them if they are nothing but a "pile of junk"? The answer: When setup PROPERLY, the 900s flat out rock! If the 900s had the benefits of the last 4 years worth of refinements in technology and understanding like the 1000s have had, they would all have been very different sleds from what came stock in 05 and 06.

I've had the benefit of riding with both sleds, an 06 900 166 and 08 M1000 153 both well setup, good pulling sleds, for almost 2 full seasons before I updated from my 800 edge. I went with an 05 900 166 for a few personal preference reasons, as well as the price point, where else can you get a 150hp sled in immaculate condition for $3,100?:D The 1000 I ride with just plain hauls the mail, it was broken in right and it runs that way... it may be a little faster than my and my buddies' 900s, but mine's still no slouch, I would run it against any other similarly set up 900 out there.

The 1000s I have seen and the one I ride with are good strong sleds, but I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss a well set up (not necessarily heavily modded) 900, they are definitely strong players and didn't come out to the hill just to watch.

:beer;

Im with speedemon...Rode Cat my whole life and i ride with everyone and all kinds....And i think everyone will agree if we are not happy with performance of our sleds we just spend more money on goodies...then kick our buddies a$$ the next time out! :D
