858 Polaris Pro. Got a great compliment today!

response above in red

Thanks for the reply, I'm not one for inflated pieces of paper either. I just would like honest numbers from everyone so I can decide if the hp gain per dollar is worth it to me. It's tough to drop a chunk of cash these days on a "trust me it'll work"

One thing I need help with...

"Again, you simply can not fake pure, raw power.. and that is what these kits deliver..."

"I have a very good idea what power it is making, and it is substantial."

"it makes stockers look like 440's."

He rode it for a while,, came back and immediately stated " WOW, that is a great running sled".."It pulls like crazy, In fact, I would rather have that than my Turbo". The power is just so linear!. much more fun to ride"

"Ahh... using the the stock primary (100%) with a Team Tied secondary.. No other changes ANYWHERE on the sled... I mean ANYWHERE!!
we have a working set up for the TSS04 as well"

So a helix change is enough to harness the huge increase in power?

big bore

bb are good why they run which isnt very much have pocket of money in one side and pistons in the other there a thing of the past boost is the way to go , the guy that had the turbo needs to figure out how to get it dialed in ha ha :crutch:

???

Hey turbo Seahawks.....my turbo is dialed I just want more!!!! 858 and a turbo means huge grin in my face!!! RKT how bout it lets shut these guys up!!!

So, in you opinion, there is not way to know where an engine's correct operating rpm is WITHOUT a Dyno test??

Is this correct?

In my opinion, yes. Especially when it comes to performance "upgrades." In my opinion, too many of the options out there historically have shown definite improvements, but are very peaky. And at times clutching for where it makes the improvement is very finicky. You know all this though....

I love seeing dyno results that are tall, long, linear, and smooth, and hopefully that's what you've come up with! If that is the case, and it isn't peaky on R's, then clutching would be a breeze, cause it would perform over a large wide rpm range. Again... you already know this too, and maybe is exactly what you're experiencing!

Too me I guess, I see a dyno as the only option outside of countless hours of testing/tuning. Which is simply not an option for me...

I'm not trying to be one of the many that bash you.... I have zero reason to. I'm just a nit-picky guy that would like to see what to shoot for.

I'll dyno my own engine if I go with a BB, whether its from you, Carls, SLP or anyone.

I already offered to float the entire bill. if I had a kit for my 2012 it would have already been installed and dyno'd by brent linderman. the kits aren't ready I guess otherwise I'm sure I would have heard from kelsey about this, maybe next season.......?

Kits will be available from this Summer on.. All test kits for this season have been used and are currently being tested.

The kit takes 7 weeks to complete (major cylinder work) .

I will have a few exchange cylinders sitting on the shelf for a quick turn around but with the response I am getting, they will , most likely, be gone very quick..

Again, kit delivers and we are very pleased with it..

Got a few more surprises for the Pro coming down the pike,..

Stay TUUNNED..

I think an 858 Turbo would be a riot..

Got one guy presently doing the drop in with a turbo.. can't wait to hear how it goes...:hail:

YUP.. seen that as well.. We develop our products to make power over a very wide rpm range.. you can check out the dyno sheets at DTR from past engines that have passed through there. Not a peaky one inthe bunch... Peaky and mountain riding do not mesh well..

Argeed.. Clutching is a breeze and, YES, that is what I am seeing and why it has taken this long to develop.. Engine makes stock HP 600 rpm lower than stock. Everything above there is added power... Over-rev is excellent..
This engine is everything but "peaky". that is one of its appeals.

understood, that is why we test 3-4 days every week.. No tuning required from the end user.. It is all done at our end and setups are given ..Just install and ride...

Kelsey,

Would this kit work on a 600 if a person bought new cylinders? Not sure if the price savings on buying a 600 would out weight the cost of the cylinders. However, by having a second set of cylinders a person could turn it back to stock easily for resell. I guess a stock or aftermarket pipe would be needed also?

Thanks.

Concerning those with questions about low elevation testing- We are in the process of clutching and tuning the 858. The kit is a great runner. It does make MUCH more power than a stocker. It makes quite a bit more than my previous setup which was dialed to the T. We need to get more miles on it before we discuss many specifics but I will say that Kelsey has a very nicely designed kit going on here and it will be a great option on bang-for-the-buck.

I really do not know.. I have never done one with a 600

Maybe mountain horse will chime in about the differences between the 600 and 800 lower end if any.

will you please start a new thread about your experience with the kit when your ready
thanks

Yes. Unfortunately Kelsey's kit rips so hard my rod bearing went down! Should have just re-manned the crank with 2400 miles on it anyway. Sometimes it's a little hard when you're itching to install the big bore! Anyway, it will have a fresh crank in it by the weekend and be up and running again. More reporting back then.
