850 bogging

Funny, I put a post about this on the all axys group page on Facebook and after about 70 or 80 comments it disappeared.
There is some good information here but really seems like no one has locked down a real cause. I hope polaris is working on some kind of update to fix this.

Foam in coolant jug

Hey all... new member.. reading your posts on the bog.. I have one as well but more concerning is fouling plugs on 3rd set in 550 miles and last set I changed hot noticed foam in coolant jug..... anyone notice this yet? To me looks bad!! Leak down test stayed at good.. any info?? Thanks

My bog was there in break in mode. Now at about 22-23hr and approx 500miles. Today it was brutal, bogged evertime i needed it at low speeds in the tree riding. No issues while rolling at speed down the trails. Was in and out of the throttle trying to recreate the bog between 25mph and 65mph. The bogging only occurs with me low rpm riding when i need the response most.

Riding a pro rmk 155 2.6" 850

Getting through 4500 RPM is the issue for me, once on the pipe all is good. Hotter plugs and lighter clutching has helped me. A new flash is the real answer but mine is much better now.

If polaris does not come out with a new map, I'm hoping other companies can. Silber turbo n/a map , mabe dynotech using a power commander, precision efi is working on there 850 reflash and there map seams to work good on the cat 800.

Well was going to start a topic, regarding my buddies rmk 850 bogging, but it seems like it’s a common issue. He has played with clutching, weights and springs, changing fuel modes, checking connections, reset the tps. Cleaned power valves Took it to the dealer said there’s no issue... shocking. Seems to be mostly a mapping issue. “4 years of development” 2-3 months into the season and sleds are blowing up and running like hot dog sh!t. Smh

Did you get any det with hotter plugs? BR8EYA? Improve runability or not really?

BPR6EIX, they are much hotter and these are the iridium style. 2 weekends on them and they look good and sled runs crisper. Will get some pictures of them after a good pull, likely next weekend before I can do this. They still looked wet and had not picked up much colour after the first day of riding. If you do this you need to understand the risks and check them closely. As mentioned before, these sleds seem to be fat at near 4500 RPM's. If you play with the flipper much below that you can foul a plug and many are making dirty streaks in the snow.

Anyone experiencing bogging once in a while when stopped or at very low speed and rhen you go WOT?

My 850 146 SKS would bog 100% every time if i go WOT from standing still or from low speed. UNTIL TODAY!!

Last night i reduced the spark plug gap from stock 0.7mm to somewhere about 0.45m. And today i could not make this thing bog!

I had awesome 170km ride,0 issues. i tried like 20 times to make it bog, on the trail and off the trail and nothing. It hits 8400rpm and then settles to 8300 and puls hard.

I also smoked my brothers Brp 850 powered Lynx RE Boondocker from the standing still and from the roll.

SO IF YOUR PATRIOT BOGS, TRY TO REDUCE YOUR SPARK PLUG GAP TO 0.5MM.

It worked for me at least for today. So pumped right now!

Did you really mean "spark plug CAP" or did you mean "spark plug GAP"?

Are most of you with bog issues seeing it at low elevation?

I have like 330 miles on my 850 and it bogged like in some of these videos ONE time at around 180 miles and it happened the ONLY time that I rode here at home, 1700ft. 74 grams. Just puked out smoke and sounded like hell for about 4 seconds when I got on it. Came out of it and never did it again that day, and has never done it since, but all of my riding since has been around 10,000 ft.

I found the same last week. Mines never bogged in just over 300 miles until the last ride. Not sure elevation we were at but we were lowest I've been, guessing between 2-3k feet. It bogged hard 3 times that day. Will keep an eye on it next ride

I would be interested to know if there as a temperature change or elevation change? I found my sled ran worse after I dropped to a lower elevation.

I also have 330 miles on my sled and have found the bog is a elevation issue. I brought my sled to Tog for the first ride (150 miles) zero bogs. I then went to the UP and had tons of bogging just like some of the videos on here. Changed plugs at home in MN and it still bogged. So I just got back from Tog and my sled had zero bogging issues the 4 days we rode. Although I did have a oil line pop off....
