800 R Pipe issue

I'm getting different input on what to do and what works. Stock pipe vs. CPI ... I've had trouble getting rpm out of my sled and am being told the cpi pipe does not provide enough back pressure to get rpm. I just rode it in the black hills yesterday to test out my updates and got it to hit 8300 8400 but it was not consistent. times it would flash 8100 and settle down at 7600 others it would flash 8400 and settle back to 8100 or 8300 . Some tell me ditch the pipe and go stock pipe. Others say the CPI will perform at higher elevation ?? It did run better than my home town at 1400' but still was inconsistent.. Me confused on whats right? Help please

I'm by no means an expert on these sleds as i am new to them, but i do know 2 strokes and 2 strokes power will vary with the temperature of the pipe. Is the CPI pipe ceramic coated or insultated like the stock one? if not this could explain why sometimes it runs great and sometimes it doesn't as the pipe might not be getting warm enough to make the power where you want it. Just my $.02

Cpi pipe

What elevation do you ride at. Skidoo mechs here in sioux falls could not get it to go over 8k unless the stock ipe was on it . 1400' But when I had it in the hills at 6k it was alot better. do you think elevation was the difference. I had Jacox do all the latest updates to the clutch and they said there is no way my clutch is the issue

From everything I have seen over the past two years, the stock Ski-Doo pipe is hard to beat. Put it back on and just change out the can. Mine runs sweet with the stock pipe and HPS can.

Ya it would be easier to do if I had one :o I'll have to find a stock pipe. They don't seem to be easy to come by

its a 2007 summit x . All parts in clutches are updated and have been gone through. Heard about the bushings etc. all that should be good. took it to a second factory mech shop and they could only tell me after finding that line that opens the second stage of exhaust valve..not hooked up. After hooking that back up and putting the right clamp on it they said that htey could get it to hit 8500 rpm with stock pipe but only 8000 with cpi. thats at 1400' I took it to 6000' and it ran much better but was inconsistent. Maybe i should just start with stock pipe and see if that helps the inconsistent rpms. Now to find one:rolleyes:
