6.4 Ford thinking what are your thoughts

That is a 5yr 100,000 diesel warrenty. It only covers the engine. If you do anything to that new engine it will put a code in the pcm that only a ford scanner can retreive. Ford is coming down hard on dealerships for doing repairs that aftermarket parts can cause. If Ford motor company finds out that a dealership repair a truck chipped or etc. they will charge back the dealership for the repair. Dealerships are getting hit hard right now by that.

What is covered under the 5yr 100,000 powertrain warranty??? Is the tranny covered in this as well???

I paid less for my Ford than I did my Mega Cab Dodge. Both equiped similar...

But that is a ton of money to drive 1100 miles. I just did a 1600+ mile trip pulling 7000 lbs and I think my total cost of fuel was around $500. Pulling the same load, my Dodges would have done better, but by only about 1mpg..

Are you two years old?

just trying to get a laugh, i went to that diesel site and the 6.4 has mixed reviews and the guys that rave about them say things like 'best truck i've owed....has 4000 miles now'....big f-ing deal. or i had a dodge as my last truck.....yea like 20 years ago.
sorry but the 6.4 might be great or just a turd like the vt365 aka the 6.0L psd aka sick leaker...aka the 6.oh no
fact is the motor is unproven and the fact that fmc is tooling up to build the next diesel 'in house' tells me they already gave up on the 6.4.

sorry if you bought one....but stock they wont run with a d-max or cummins nor return the mpg of the 2. too bad because they are nice trucks.

i know two guys that had them both of them complain about the mpg and power. one guy has a maga-cab now....likes it more. the other guy wished he still had his gasser cheby...thats sad!

and when you put a programmer on any truck......you are your own warrantee station!!

so lighten up and get a sense of humor!

From lots of experience you can never tell a true ford person anything bad about there ford or that there is anything out there that is better. Most stock 6.4l get around 7.6 to 11 mpg depending on f450-f250 and outside temperature. In alaska most of them in the winter get 3-4mpg. There is a reason the car hauling guys pretty much all use dodge's. Navistar and ford have now come to a settlement and ford will NO longer be using there engine's after this year. For a reason. My statistics come from every single customer i talked to coming in my dealership to service or fix there 6.4l and i asked every single one. i write service at a major ford dealer and personally absolutely love the 6.0 and the 6.4l combined they totalled up to more than half of what i made last year. and no the tranny's not covered 5/100,000 btw.

LOL, thats funny. I live in alaska and tow almost every weekend with my F350 6.4 with a 4.5 lift, 35" toyos on 20's and i get 11mpg towing, hand calculated and not tuned, 100% stock. Im not saying its great mileage, but its a long shot from 3 to 4 you stated.

Excellent Post! Couldnt Agree More! I got 137,000 miles on my dodge and been chipped since day one....not a wrench to the engine or tranny! Someday Ford will wake up and put a inline diesel in there trucks...Hmm highway tractors pull heavy loads with 6 holes...holy chit! You Ford boys put a few miles on your 6.4 and make sure you got a GPS to direct you to the dealerships and a large slip tank full of fuel :D

that's one he!! Of a rumor. Do you have any facts to back that up, or is it just hearsay?
If the epa shut down a business for providing performance enhancing off-road products, that require you to sign a waiver stating its for off-road use only, then there is a ton of business's to be worried........see just about every aftermarket company in the country....

fact!

on another note....

We just completed tear down on a brand new 6.4 to research and Development reasons on new hard parts and this motor is pretty impressive in design. You wont have 6.0 issues (headgaskets etc)

That argument may work if I didnt still own 3 DODGES still.....And I have owned a Duramax, just once, and it was a long time ago.....

Fact? Is that your proof? It still sucks if it is true, for alot of people....

Ignorance is bliss! My Ford get's only 1 mpg less than my 6 speed Mega Cab......

LOL...You make 1 mpg sound like peanuts! On the fuel economy that my truck gets thats roughly 5% and like 750 dollars worth of fuel per year on average. Hmm 750 x 5years= is $3750 savings, theres your 1mpg dude! I dont run a new truck JSCC...im happy with 23 mpg on the highway in the summer!

My 79 gets 10, but will climb tree's if the bark doesn't slip. Whats your guys' points now? Why is there bickering over 1-2mpg? Unless you have the cruise set on the praries, same wind direction, same speed, and the trucks behave the same with the cruise control on, your numbers WILL vary one way or the other, everytime! One truck gets 10, the other gets 17, one car gets 40, my other car gets 22, bike gets 35, and the sled gets who cares. Thats roughly alot of fuel per year, and 100% who gives a hell.

Could be just me but when you run a trucking company fuel consumption becomes a #1 priority Coxy, not just in your trucks but in everything you drive...sorry for bickering over 1-2 mpg but its called saving money...alot of it! Dunno about the rest of you guys but i like money and the economy isnt exaclty in great shape so all the more reason to try to save a buck. Just my .02

That is alot of savings, I will give you that. If my mileage go's up in the summer, I will have to revisit this thread....

I have owned alot of diesel trucks, and not a single one has ever averaged 23mpg on the freeway. My 93' Dodge is by far the best mileage truck I have ever owned and it gets a measely 19. You are doing something right, or drive down hill both ways......

funny thing about this is the 2 08 f350's that my ridin buds run both have sliptanks and the never go anywhere with out fuel in em and have to use it alot, according to both of em the dealer will void your warranty if you phart in the seat by readin the fine print:eek:

Im with you Hyflyer. My dads Alaska F450 gets 9 mpg towing a 30 foot weekend warrior with 3 sleds in it and 12 mpg working on 13mpg around Anchorage. I dont know anybody in Alaska getting 3-4 mpg. Also, I think people should remember your driving 10,000 lbs pickups, with large tires, and heavy loads for goodness sake. If your worried about gas mileage buy a kia, sell the sled, and stay at home.....more powder for me! Just my .02 :D

Not a word of a lie the Edge EZ box and straight thru exhaust added 3 mpg. I know its hard to believe but after many mpg calculations thats what i come up with. Im headed to Wyoming tommorow morning and ill post the milage tugging the 4 place...tough to keep your foot out of it when u wanna get the eff down there :D

Thats fantastic mileage then! My 05' gets 15-16 on the freeway. If I drive 60 it'll get 19. No way around it, if you can pull 23 mpg out of any truck, that is unreal!! He!!, my wifes Maxima only gets 23 mpg for he!! sake!! lol

if i drive 60 my truck will be in the low 20 also but i dont and other than in town/short trips the truck pulls a trailer the smallest is 7700 gvwr and the heaviest is 25,000 gvwr. in town is like 13 but is so hard not to leave a couple black strips now and then. the 29' wells cargo funwagon 10 ~14 mpg 10 in the wyoming f-ing wind and more like 12~14 on average. i think it does better than most because it never has to downshift out of overdrive pulling that 'little' trailer. i have to downshift it manually only because at low rpm and at over 1000 pound feet of torque the drivetrain makes some funny noises.

i have gone down to texas unloaded twice and both times 5~15 above the posted limit and both times the truck averaged just at 20 mpg.
its an 03 dodge 4x4 cr cummins b1/b2 twins 48re auto with 3.73's and 245/70-R19.5's (34 inch tall)

Ya I have heard the 03' were the best mileage trucks. Sounds like your getting similar mileage to us when towing. All of my truck get around 9-12 pulling 7000' worth of Sled trailer. I use both my dually's for pulling heavy (30,000lbs), and they both average 6-7mpg doing so. When pulling my camp trailer, the both average around 8-9mpg. I have yet to pull anything beside the Sled trailer with the Ford, so I dont know how it will do. I will not be using it for hauling equipment, kept my Dodges for that<<<<<< see, I told you I like Dodges...lol!

I don't understand the emitions **** on these new trucks.... if the corked exaust causes you to use more fuel than your kind of defeating the purpose arent you. sure less emitions go in the air, but your f****ing using for go go juice whats the point. haha but what do I know I got an 07 ranger FX$ level 2 with a 4.0L gas haha like 207HP yeeehaaawww getts the job done in style though:)
