3" Track for the Pro

How hard it is to remove the chain-case??

Not hard at all. Take all the bolts off and heat the back of the chain case from inside the tunnel with a few screw drivers putting pressure on the chain case to help it "pop" off once the glue softens up a bit. Just be sure when taking the 2 big front bolts off....toward the front...that the glue isn't binding up backing out the bolt or ya will twist off the head of the bolt. That's gonna be a fun one to get out!

Not saying is the "right way" but I removed all the bolts, warmed case up with a propane torch (slowly ) and just start tugging on a corner, once the temp gets to the right point, the case will come off.

You can get away without glueing it back on, just use a fiber disc to remove old glue.

Does anyone know the weight of the 156 X3?

I saw the 162 is 59 LBS but didn't see the 156 weight? I'm guessing 55 LBS? Right about the same as the PC 153 2.6? Thanks

Dropped my deposit on a 162" and drivers today!! Jake from Carls Cycle said the 162 is 8-10lbs heavier than stock...

Anyone buying the cheaper 9129 and cutting it down? Seems like a viable option cause it also gets your paddles out to the actual edge of the track? Im thinking about going to a x3 of some sort...just cant make up my mind. Stock '13 w/ carls clutching. Thinking a set of drivers and the 9220 would be the ticket.

Has anyone heard of separation issues with the x3 track? I have heard rumors that camoplast is having issues with the track from two different groups of people and I am trying to find out if any of it is true.

"Rumors" is the key word .

This track is intended for deep snow use... not high speed trail running... If you are planning on using this track... no more 50+ mph runs on hardpack/ice trails for you.

So far, the X3 has shown itself to be a durable high quality track when used in the way it was designed for .

.

All track cutting voids the warranty from what Camoplast told me directly.

Plus... how much more traction do you need from a track with that extra 3/8" of track to the edge?

Hmm don't know on that one because lots of guys are running the full width paddle, so they would be cutting all there rivets off? Flipping them around?

My "guess" on the paddles is so they can use the same form/mold for both track widths, then just cut the belt to width.
There are possibly some upsides to the narrower paddle....less track/tunnel contact and maybe a little more agility without the paddles going all the way to the outside. On the full width paddles there was always quite a bit of rubbing and chunks of outer paddle getting torn....that can't be good for track speed and always raised a red flag when trying to warranty for any reason.
I would like to see an inset of 1/8"-ish...max paddle and still avoid contact.

Really? 50mph is all that you can do on the trail?

That is true. I would be curious to see if there is a difference side by side. Still a big improvement over stock any way you look at it.
