3" Track for the Pro

Good to hear! Unfortunately for AVID (Robbie), one of his employees answered my e-mail inquiry and was a total azz hat to me when I inquired about getting some 9 tooth drivers machined for me. So I got another aftermarket company to pony up and machine them for me, and will never do any business with AVID again.
Can understand your frustration, I've been there before(not with Robbie), but in general. I would maybe discuss your issue with Robbie. If some "azz hat" at McDonalds put pickles on your ketchup only cheese burger would you never eat at McDonalds again?

Just wanted to chime in and give Robbie from AVID a BIG THANKS for listening to his customers and delivering another QUALITY Product. Last season I was changing my track from under my Pro from a 153 PC to a 13' Polaris 163. I was hesitant to cut my rails to accommodate for Extrovert drivers after seeing a couple tracks get ripped in half because of Antistab wheel failures. So I called Robbie and we discussed some alternatives and he told me to give him a week and he would get back to me. Long story short he made me the first set of AVID's new center drivers and they have worked flawless in all types of snow condition's. BTW my sled is an 11' Pro with a Boondocker Turbo running 7 to 11 pounds of Boost and loving it. Just wanted to give credit where credit is due. Thanks Robbie

So I assume you went from a 155 stock polaris to the 153 PC right? How would you describe the difference?

Thanks,

RS

LH,

Sorry to hear about your experience... but I can assure you it is not typical of this company.

I've done business with Robbie for years... AVID is a small company that takes pride in what they do. I've had some off the wall requests and they have always given me the info and help I've needed.

Keep the faith!

Too late! I've already formed an alliance with someone better, that is willing to build what I want / need. My new Canadian associate does not have a problem giving me a good value for the roughly ten thousand I'll spend with him this year alone. I have no need for AVID or his employees sh!tty personal relation skills.

Enough of that derail, back to the original topic.

Eric is completely right. Sometimes a phone call when requesting something special or custom is a better way to communicate than an email. Avid (Robbie) is a first class operation and business man. Avid has been instrumental (as has Mountainhorse :face-icon-small-win) in getting these drivers designed and built and available to us. Avid is always on the cutting edge with new products and carries a professional tone on the forums. :face-icon-small-win

About 4 years ago when Robbie (with Eric's input) was making the first sets of the Powerclaw drivers for the dragons, I was waiting for my drivers. They were a few days late so Robbie personally delivered them to me at the Puyallup Snow Show. He brought me some other goodies and we met up for a while discussing sleds, etc. One heck of a guy.

I've had quite a few dealings with vendors and people on this site. Some were good with qulaity products and some not very good where I've spent the better part of the riding season waiting to receive such product.

I have always had first class perfect dealings with Avid.

Question on the Avid Drivers....

Is Robbie going to have Powerclaw drivers without the center driver available for both '11-'12 shafts AND '13 shafts ??

And drivers WITH the center driver for the same year shaft's as above?

We have also always had great customer service and quick shipping from Avid.

The center drivers are a new addition. All the drivers we offered last year are available.

So the big question is...
If a guy procrastinates until late November (or beyond) to think about the new track and whatever drivers are needed for them... will they be available? In other words are the preseason orders enough to have prompted more production runs punched or not... Or has the ship sailed?

I'd like to hear some more real life experience thinking that a few of the reviews are speculating on ordered parts or garage performance.

Does anyone have some picks of the chain case mod? I'am going to have a local fabricator do it but i don't have my track yet to see what needs to be done..any pics dimensions would be a great help.

I don't have pics, but you cut the oil reservoir down flush with the rest and weld the back back on so it will hold oil. Pretty simple once you look at it. Track will not fit / turn with that big bulge into the tunnel.

I swapped out my drivers from the whal bros to the power claw style mid season last year. I think it was 3-5 days from my phone call to them showing up at my door in ak. Robbie was fantastic to work with.

i dont have a pro, but always reading up on them as i want one. why are some buying clutch kits if you are both increasing the track load, and gearing it down with smaller drivers? are you clutching it more or less aggressive, or dont care just like having another fancy sticker on your wrap?

EVERY set up can benifit from proper clutching to match location, power, gearing, rotating mass, and load. Some people are scared because clutching is like magic to them, some don't have the experience on different set ups to see the value of changing more than just the weights, and some have blow the sled budget on just the track and not left enough money for more than weights.
