2015/16 Snowy Range snow conditions

Thread Rating

The snow is probably less wind blown on the ears and buff pass but it's not any deeper. The sand lake snotel in the snowies was saying 30" the last time I looked.

Took the family up today to the Green Rock lot. Did 18 miles of road and about 43' of off trail. Thats right, it only took 43' off of the trail to smooch a rock. Impact occurred at super slow speeds because we've learned from past mistakes$$$$$. I will summarize it this way; the Snowies are at least 4' away from being rideable. You can ride the road and let 'er rip, but leave the "blacktop" and things might get expensive

Total snow accumulations... 5 to 7 inches with 11 to 13 inches
in the Snowy Range. Highest amounts over and near north facing
slopes.

Hope it hits hard!

I will keep you guys drooling with pics from "white friday" :face-icon-small-ton Leaving in T-minus 19 hrs to go test some A-arms!

We'll be riding on Friday as well. Hopefully we get a good bit of snow from this storm. Should be good even if we don't get the snow.

Any updates?? Kinda fence sitting about a 12 hour drive through crap weather for marginal snow
This storm didn't bring what they forecast. They were calling for 9" on the mtn today and it was barely 3". The Snotels aren't looking very promising to even drive 2.5 hrs.

I rode today. Put on about 45 miles. The snowies got about 8-10 inches down lower but only about 3 inches on top. Kinda strange. We still need a another storm or two to cover everything but we still got in some good powder turns. Today was the best weather I've ever seen on the snowies. 20*, dead calm and sunny all day.

Rode for 4 hours yesterday, Snow is super spotty. There were areas with pockets over 3' in depth and next thing you know you're in 3".

My riding buddies rode the Madres today, I decided not to risk it. They said lots of rocks and logs and not much snow, and some guys were't even unloading their sleds.

Put 50 trail miles on the sleds around Albany today, this morning snow covered all the trails, this afternoon was starting to hit gravel on the way out. Everyone start doing a snowdance and maybe by the end of December we can play in some deep powder.

Can someone post a video of this "snow dance". Sounds like witchcraft to me!!! I say we all purchase cloud seeders and start spreading the "seed"!!!!
